Yeah, I always state a dollar amount for shipping in my auctions. Sometimes its a little high, sometimes a little low, but the buyer never has to be surprised after he wins. That's a tad bit sleazy on the part of the seller, but hey, you win some, you lose some. If it's still a good deal, I'd go through with it. Don't spite him for a few extra bucks.

i know thats still a good deal but the parts are for my bro whos broke and needs the parts to pass inspection and get his car registered to take care of some tickets he got. if those were the actual costs i wouldnt have a problem with it, but they arent and hes telling me thats what is is like they are.
like i said, its the sellers fault for not setting the reserve high enough on the auction if hes losing money on it, thats the point of a reserve, to keep from losing money.

heres what he just sent me:
Re: Your invoice for eBay purchases - item #7957758441, 98-00 Passat Headlights, Corners, and Side Markers
Sorry, I still havent measured the 2 boxes yet. The weight should be around 12 pounds. Id say the boxes are 2 ft in length and one foot in width and 1 ft in ht each. So you can by this for now till i measure em tomorrow. I think it d be best though to pay me now the $110 and ill paypal you the difference in shipping if there is any. You'll have proof of the actual shipping cost anyhow.
the item i bought includes 2 passat headlights(about 12 inches long), 2 sets of corner lights(very small maybe 5inx5in), and 2 side marker lights(very very small about 1.5inX .5in). all stock passat stuff. this guy is trying to put this stuff into 2 2 foot by 1 foot by 1 foot boxes. one of those boxes is more than enough to hold this stuff safely. im so surprised that he thinks i should pay him the full amount he is asking now and then he can refund me if he needs to, riiiiiight.

each box is 19 x 1 x 1. If u look at the picture in my ad, you'll see 2 boxes. (One for each headlight and corner light). These boxes are the ones that these headlights fit into. They also need room for all the bubble wrap. I'll barely be able to even incl the 2nd set of corner lights in each one. My zip is 22304.
These are Passat headlights and not some Jetta's or Civic's.
My reply:
Im still having a hard time believing that those boxes are a foot deep and tall, but i guess the lights are just bigger than i thought. If you tape the two boxes together side by side the dimensions equal 19x24x12. If the total weight is 12 pounds ups says it will cost 26.72 to ship them ground, and that price is good up to 30 pounds because the dimensions of the box are considered oversize so they automatically bill for 30 pounds regardless of the actual weight. I dont know how you normally ship stuff out but the easiest way is probably to go to The UPS Store (theres one less than 2 miles from you) and get them to ship it. here are the locations close to you: http://go.mappoint.net/ups/PrxResults.aspx...GAD4=USA&FC=UPS
Please let me know, thanks.
