Its called Proxy bidding.
The min bid is 1.00, Guy one bids 10.00
Auction shows 1.00 as high bid
You come along and bid 8.00
since you bid 8, the proxy kicks in and bids 9.00 automatically for guy one

Just put the absolute maximum that you want to pay. If it's more than the other guy's max bid you wil be high bidder. For example, if you put a max of 20.00 and the other guy's was 10.00, you will get high bid of 11.00. You will keep getting the high bid until it goes over your max bid.

If the maximun bid set by guy #1 is 10 and the max your willing to pay is 20 you bidding incriment will go up by $1 if someone else puts in a bid over $10. The max it will reach for you is $20. You can request Email updates if some one else starts to bid on the item. so if it goes over $20 you can choose then to go higher, or stop bidding.

here is how to win on ebay........
1'st try and be at a computer when the auction is ending.
2'nd open up the auction in 2 seperate windows. In 1 window put in your id and bid amount but don't click the bid button yet
3'd keep refreshing that other window till about 10 seconds are left in the auction, then place youre bid.
you're 99% going to win
4'th welcome to the world of e-bay "snipering or sniping" :bigok:

Definitly do not bother bidding until the last minute, 5 times some sneaky *********** out bid me by either a dollar or a quarter and they didnt place one bid before that. Either that or the seller jacks the bidding up himself.
Just wait until the last minute, then bid like VR6 says.
