What should I do ?I dont want a bid war with myself

banzaitoyota 10-30-2002 06:30 AM

Its called Proxy bidding.

The min bid is 1.00, Guy one bids 10.00

Auction shows 1.00 as high bid

You come along and bid 8.00

since you bid 8, the proxy kicks in and bids 9.00 automatically for guy one

Just put the absolute maximum that you want to pay. If it's more than the other guy's max bid you wil be high bidder. For example, if you put a max of 20.00 and the other guy's was 10.00, you will get high bid of 11.00. You will keep getting the high bid until it goes over your max bid.

@ treceb

what deal its that...where the money goes to the board..liek $1. or some ****...?

Turbo Dan....Is this how the are over bidding me?

I dont want to put my top amount up there..and get totally fucked...

treceb 10-30-2002 08:54 AM

yeah, but it was less than a dollar i believe.

SpecialT 10-30-2002 10:06 AM

If the maximun bid set by guy #1 is 10 and the max your willing to pay is 20 you bidding incriment will go up by $1 if someone else puts in a bid over $10. The max it will reach for you is $20. You can request Email updates if some one else starts to bid on the item. so if it goes over $20 you can choose then to go higher, or stop bidding.

here is how to win on ebay........

1'st try and be at a computer when the auction is ending.

2'nd open up the auction in 2 seperate windows. In 1 window put in your id and bid amount but don't click the bid button yet

3'd keep refreshing that other window till about 10 seconds are left in the auction, then place youre bid.

you're 99% going to win

4'th welcome to the world of e-bay "snipering or sniping" :bigok:

Definitly do not bother bidding until the last minute, 5 times some sneaky cocksuckers out bid me by either a dollar or a quarter and they didnt place one bid before that. Either that or the seller jacks the bidding up himself.

Just wait until the last minute, then bid like VR6 says.

SoRRoW 10-30-2002 04:09 PM

Yeah ive noticed that ..the numbers jump at the last minute.....

Put it on Ebay, if someone local wants it, they will pick it up, otherwise the buyer will just have to pay shipping. I would take it to a packing place and have them give you a estimate on how much to pack it up the right way and to UPS specs and tell the potential bidders the cost. A person is only going to buy something like that on Ebay after exausting any local sources and will accept the fact they will have to pay shipping.

turbovr6 10-30-2002 04:37 PM

I sold a pair of t-tops off a trans am on ebay once. Just make sure you put in the auction "busyer pays all shipping and packing costs" then just bring it somewhere and have it profesionally packed
