Dry Hopp Video - November 2003
Yeah, there's a large concentration of US Military here. Most of us are either military active duty, ex-military, or working for the military as civilians.
I am active duty, but I get out in February. I'll be headed to cali.

Hugh, each video gets better and better, the quality is so good my video card overheats (I need a new one)
I miss Okinawa
For those of you that are complaining, the Oki guys are some of the best group of friends out there, it could be 2:00 am and you blew something, pick up the cell phone and your in business, whether it is a tow bar needed, or you blew a tire the guys will be there for you.
I was glad to be a part of the group while I was there, Some of you may not be intersested in drag racing, but understand the motorsports on the island are limited. I would venture to say that Okinawa has more hp per square mile than most groups out there.
And to answer the question about the population, the US has close to 17,000 troops stationed on Okinawa, the bases cover 25% of the land of the island, and 1/8th the population

the track is acctually mainly used for drift and gymkhanna events through the year, the drag events happen about once a month now, 3 yrs ago it was 3x a year, the track is cut into the plateau of a mountain. it is not the greatest, there is no VHT or treatment to the pavement, and the asphault is slick from all the drifting, so traction is a big issue, so much that the americans were basically told that if they did not use tires that were available in Japan, they could not compete in the normal classes, they would be disqualified. So the BF Goodrich Drag radials were banned in the HKS events, which caused an uproar in the group because the guys were ordering the tires through Summit racing. The stickiest tire allowed is a Nitto Drag radial (hmm wonder why, maybe because HKS is the supplier for them in Japan). Understand all the cars you see in these videos are street legal, it is part of the registration requirements.
Yes, its like a big parking lot. It's actually UPhill, not downhill. The track sucks, but the cars are ******* quick. There's a lot of 9 and 10 second cars there if given a 1/4 mile and proper conditions. Some of the cars there have actually gone up to mainland japan and turned out some ten second 1/4's. These cars run low 6 seconds in the 150 meters. (I personally pull a 6.7) Some of the GT-R's in that video are running 5's in the 150m. Thats some fast cars.
For those of you who have never seen any of the other videos from my site, go check them out here: http://www.zeroyon.com You can see some 1/4 mile racing... but it ain't on a track.
Anyway, to put things in perspective, here's a picture of japan. Notice the little arrow pointing to the little island of Okinawa. Straight roads without hills here are hard to find... let alone buy a plot of land a half mile long to put a drag strip on it.
