Italian Garden = Americanized Italian food
I always seek out local genuine Italian restruants. It takes some trial and error but when you find a good one. Wow!!
I can count on one hand how many time I have eaten at Olive Garden.

Jim... You're speaking to an Italian guy. I said the cheesecake was good, not the food was authentic. And it's actually New York style they serve. True Italian cheesecake is not quite as "tasty" to say the least.
If you want authentic Italian, I'll show you to two restaraunts about an hour and a half south that will blow you away...
Pizza time - Don't let the name fool you. Some of the best Italian I've ever had, and when you walk in, people are yelling at each other. It has a real Italian welcome feel to it.
Cappricio's - Hands down, the BEST and most authentic Italian Restaraunt I've EVER been to. They serve all meals in seven courses. All gourmet, and it's done in the Italian tradition. The last thing you eat is salad and fruit. All courses are brought to you on new dishes, just like they would if you were at my "Grandma Pastorini's" dinner table.
It's funny... I was actually reading something that hit home with me and it gave me a laugh:
"You're grandmother can't throw a baseball to save her life, but if you got smart with her, she had no trouble hitting you in the head with a shoe from across the hall."
