Dont know if your aware of it or not, or if any of you care

But the practice of insurance companies steering thier clients to use shops chosen by them is against the law. Many class action lawsuits are being won in states all over the country.

DONT BE A VICTIM!

Such tactics, that are 100% ILLEGAL are:

we cant gurantee the repair

you have to get 3 estimates

we cant gurantee that other items found during the repair process will be covered or how long it will take to submit the suppliment

we will only pay $xx a hour, anything else you would have to cover

and flat out telling people what shop they have to use

its your right to get your car fixed WHEREVER you want, its also the LAW that says the insurance company has to come see your car within a certain amount of days, any suppliments once the car is being worked on has to be within 2 days, and that your check is issued in a timely fashion as well- usually no more then 5 days.

Know your rights and dont let thier scare tactics get to you.

now you guys can go back to talking about your pants.

by the way- some other lawsuits being won against the insurance companies include:

using your credit report to set your insurance rates, as well as your zip code to set insurance rates.

Insurance companies, for the most part, are criminals...

A good tip for those who arent at fault, Insist on a rental car, Then tell them to take their time with the claim...

because it would be good if some of these lawsuits made it to New York, let the insurance companies know they cant keep making up crazier guidelines that are illegal.

well, whats interesting is that these insurance companies, who were just paying out injury claims 10-15 years ago are no longer doing so.

Before, you go to your lawyer, say you hurt your back, and then a check shows up. Not so much anymore. Now the insurance companies are making the plaintiff go to trial. Remember all those injury attorney commericals back in the 80's? Like Jacoby and Myers? All those guys went out of business because the insurance companies stopped paying out and forced them to go to trial for a $2-8k payout.....

I hate insurance companies. The damn state requires you to have it, but god help you if you ever have to file a claim, because they'll drop you altogether, or jack the **** out of your rates. It's a racket. Insurance company = slimeball crooks.
