So how does the tc take the power away from the wheels? Does the turbo stay spooled while its working?

The TC disables the injectors, essentially causing a misfire every so often. I was worried about this on a rotary, but racelogic has had several fitted to rotaries (as I understand) with no ill effects, and the 'other' club consensus is that it is safe. The Racelogic unit is the only aftermarket TC that is compatible, even programmed for 2 banks of injectors for the same combustion chamber.

I don't think the power loss is noticeable with moderate wheelspin dialed in. probably at 0% wheelspin, it is considerable. It's not designed to moderate power outputs, it's just designed to keep you on the edge of traction (10% wheelspin on dry road), and do that much better than you could yourself. Racelogic says that with the full throttle shift option, the turbo will stay spooled.
