i saw pick of this funky little concept on aol. 500hp viper v10 in an odd looking shiny 4 wheeled bike. they say it would have a 2.5 sec 0-60 and would potentially be capible of speeds over 400mph (how would the rider hld on)

MazdaMike 01-15-2003 10:19 AM

anyone got anymore info?

DJ Rotor 01-15-2003 10:23 AM

some info there, I've been looking around for more detail and can't find much. It was 400kph BTW, not mph. Still pretty nutty.

rx-7addict 01-15-2003 10:26 AM

all i've seen was from allpar.com and they gave the specs of it so far. They say it should do a little over 300 estimated actually. I'll look for the site but it's a spin off from the chrysler site that just hosts new and old chrysler concepts that either have or have not or will/will not go into production such as the T-rex, sidewinder, so on so on. but it's something like www.allpar.com or some play on the mopar word with the mo changed to something else.

Sinful7 01-15-2003 10:27 AM

Let's hope they're off to the gents for a tactical vom before we see a V10 pushchair...

LMAO!! A Viper V10 Wheelchair!!!!

that's the site I was talking about

rx-7addict 01-15-2003 10:35 AM

well **** someone beat me to it nice DJ rotor. YEah I saw that a couple of weeks ago and was like damn. Still trying to figure out how in the hell you sit on that thing. I mean I see the seat but do you lean forward like on a crotch rocket or back like on a harley. It's kind of a fucked concept, but i'm sure someone will buy it and kill themselves the first day.

Joe Flo 01-15-2003 10:35 AM

It looks like a train! And I don't know too much about bikes but wouldn't all that weight keep it from being able to fly through the twisties? It just doesn't look like its capable of doing anything except drive in a straight line. Other then that it looks pretty cool :yum:

Joe Flo 01-15-2003 10:36 AM

At 400Mph you do not want to lean back. I can promise you that!!

DJ Rotor 01-15-2003 10:45 AM

you ride it like this

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/images/6048-4.jpg

and only in a straight line I think https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

unless they have a linkage in the suspension that lets the wheels go up and down on opposite sides without activating the springs/dampers.

J

Sinful7 01-15-2003 10:54 AM

it appears that eacgh of the four wheels is articulated... when cornering left, the right wheel would move down and the left wheel up, so you'd be able to lean and still have all 4 on the pavement.

rx-7addict 01-15-2003 11:02 AM

ok thanks for the picture of how to ride it that's just insane I dunno there's something about spending 250,000 on one of em.... I'll pass. As for steering sinful7 is right they said somewhere in an article I read about that thing that it is meant to perform well on country curvy roads as well as on the track, but I dunno having talked to people that have vipers or have driven them and they have trouble at times keeping them straight because of the power I can't imagine what that power would do to that bike.

ThirdGenRX7 01-15-2003 11:06 AM

a 3.5 gallon tank? that thing has a range of about 30 miles

I'm sure if you understand how to drive a Viper, or a Tomahawk, you can control them just fine. Like the FD, you just have to watch the second turbo engagement when apexing. It's all in the throttle.

rx-7addict 01-15-2003 11:17 AM

yeah i have no doubt about that but one buddy of mine specifically is a professional race car driver working his way up to F1 class and even he says at times that the Viper's power is hard to handle, course I guess he's also used to the little bathtub F1 cars that stick to the pavement much better. None the less for 250,000 I'd rather get a few other things then that thing

Sinful7 01-15-2003 11:19 AM

Holy ****, since when does a Viper cost $250,000???

http://us.autos1.yimg.com/autos.yaho.../03/VIPER6.jpg

Try $79,995, unless you're talking about a prepared viper... then there can be some serious cash involved.

ThirdGenRX7 01-15-2003 11:58 AM

he's talkin about the motorcycle thing speedy https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Oh... I'm a tard.. as if that wasn't apparent before......

Baldy 01-15-2003 12:13 PM

don't they present some concept vehicles when they really don't operate? like, with no engine, just for show? I wonder if they've really had one of these driveable, and what the tests were like...

Sinful7 01-15-2003 12:15 PM

The concept Viper was driveable...

DJ Rotor 01-15-2003 12:27 PM

And this one certainly has an engine . . . https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Yes, it is driveable, don't know how well, but it was at least driven onto the stage for the show.

lmao, it doesnt have the gas to get to top speed! no worries

mike

MazdaMike 01-15-2003 01:51 PM

"The 500-horsepower Viper V-10 engine powering the dual rear wheels gives this radical vehicle a potential top speed of 420 miles per hour (according to the drunken Dodgers)." no ******* way

with all the power, it could tow a trailer full of fuel...so when the driver hits something, the fuel would dump all over him, making for a spectacular scene (he would know from the start that it's a suicide mission)

j9fd3s 01-15-2003 01:54 PM

hey that would be cool :bigthumg:

mike

teknics 01-15-2003 03:56 PM

actually the gasmileage on a viper is what 12mpg? that's with a huge (compared to bikes) weight of probably 2800 or more....you stirp it down to basically the engine alone and some tires the weight's under 1,000 (i say 1,000 cause i think the engine weighs a shitload) and bam you've increased gas mileage.

Most bikes get full tank distances equal to that of a car, i believe the GSXR1000 gets approx. 300 miles to the tank or something (dont recall off the top of my head) and thats only like a 2.5-3.5 gallon tank with a 1000cc engine.

honestly i'd use all the gas to hit 420mph and then just coast for a good 400 or so miles lol, all you have to do is hit top speed once then you just coast to your destination lol.

teknics 01-15-2003 03:59 PM

Also dodge is normally known for converting their concepts into real cars mainly because they dont have tons of concepts. The Dodge PowerBox Pickup is basically coming out in a few years exactly as it looked in the shows, the new Dodge Ram's were designed off a concept with a few changes made here and there, the viper was a random shot in the dark in 92 or so.

If anyone's been to the NY Auto Show at jacob javitt's you'll know dodge probably has the most limited selection of "concepts" to view. Ford generally has way too many concepts and far too few get past that stage (come on who wouldn't have wanted to see the Ford V12 Powerforce become reality, **** i know i did), Chevy normally has some but not tons.

kevin.

edit: of course this is a bike so maybe they were just bored and have no plans whatsoever.

j9fd3s 01-15-2003 04:04 PM

yah this doesnt really seem like that good an idea

Sinful7 01-15-2003 04:04 PM

This should be it's slogan:

"Driving the Tomahawk gives you the ability to kill yourself 10.4 times faster!"
