why isnt the porsche 911 the perfect drift car? theoretically with all the wieght in the rear its going to want to be sideways, its like throwing an arrow backwards. my thesis is that its inherent unstability is exactly what you are looking for in a drift car, discuss

Good Point.. but maybe all the weight in the rear gives the back too much grip..

May I offer an alternative? The green machine! It's got slick rear tires, a grippy front tire, steers from the rear, and only has a brake in the front!

I am not ashamed to admit that I want one of these, preferably if one was made in my size.

rear tires need to be thinner.

I actually really want one...I think I'll probably end up buying one for my son, and using it until he's old enough to use it

of course, then I'd have to buy another one so we could race

Inherent instability is not at all what you want in a drift car, ask anyone who has tryed to drift an MR2. A bit more weight in front is a good thing as it helps you recover from the slide. Otherwise the car tends to just spin - something early 911s were famous for.

J

edit: actually I should rephrase that, not "a bit more weight in front" but rather "a bit less inertia in the back" - more what I meant.
