Diesel Rotary

Talk about wild! I've got my TurboII powered '78 Kelmark GT at a car show we have every Wed. night here in Port Orchard, Wa. About the end of the show two guys walk up and start talking rotary engines. They said their company makes 2,3,4 and 6 rotor diesel engines with up to 2000hp! Well, I didn't really believe them until I started listening to them for a while and they really knew their stuff! Plus I checked out their company web site and they make what they said.
Well, I showed them my Halteck E6k and they were amazed. They hadn't heard of the Haltech and were using a kind of primative system for injection and spark(yes, spark on a deisel engine.) They had talked to motronic and electromotive, but didn't like the system.(Me too!) I guess these engines have a prechamber with injector to start the firing just before compression(like a '70s Honda CVCC), so they will run on most any fuel. Needless to say I was amazed and just about speechless as I work on 3000hp marine diesel engines and had never heard of a marine diesel rotary, much less one with six rotors.
Well, I ran through the maps and functions on the Haltech and they really liked it.

Sorry I didn't post a web site, but I was still working on my first cup of coffee when I put this post up. Its www.rotarypowerinternational.com The company is Rotary Power International. As with a lot of car shows, there is a lot of BS, but after talking to these guys for a few min. I realized I was talking to the companies development engineer. Man did these guys know rotaries! Its interesting though that they didn't know about Haltech. But I guess its like being to close to the forest to see the trees.
