I stabbed a 26" Red in the head last night. Only decent Red I've seen all year.
you are talking about fish, right? red snapper? or am I so scuba-deprived that I'm starting the read too much into things?

Who the hell cares? I mean, do you buy a car because of the engine size? I would think such things as POWER would be more important than displacement. And sometimes the numbers don't tell the story. You really have to "try on" a car before you know if its the one for you.
I remember many years ago, I test drove a Hyundai Sonata. "Biggest engine in its class" they said. It was a pathetic low-tech thumper of an engine and it made less horsepower than the 626 I ended up buying.
When it comes to engines, size doesn't matter. If it sings a pretty song when you stomp on it, and it "just feels right," then it is.

I speared me a 24" red last year, I thought it was the biggest damn snapper anyone on the boat had seen.

In the Drum family but nicknamed Bass because they love to hit spoons & repalas around grassy area's (when the tide is high).
Very tasty. I may blacken him tonight.

ahhaa, how did this become a fish discussion?
Well, I bought my 7 cuz it was a rotary... I didn't care how big it was, but because as I started to learn more and more about it, it just felt right...
********* off topic *************
So who wants to go fishing?

Ah, Red Drum. We caught a couple of those last summer out of Biloxi. Are you on the gulf coast?
Last year my friend pulled a little 5" Nassau Grouper up out of Simpsons creek. Last thing I expected to see...
Anyhow, Now that I've killed the almighty rotary displacment thread.
