Damn Ups
i worked for a ups shipping outlett..
the ups prices really aren't that high, its the vendors that mark them up so high.. its ******* rediculous..
i sent something for like 8 bucks when i worked there, that woulda cost between 15-25 to send if i didn't work there...

I hate UPS and go out of my way to do business with companies that offer alternative shipping options.
It may not be too bad within the US, but crossing the border is rediculous! All their various "brokerage fees" and double taxation.
Here is a UPS invoice from Dec 2002 for some scuba gear I bought online from a place in Dallas:
Declared Value: $355.55 USD
Shipping charge charged by vendor: $16.05 US... very reasonable. Arrived in 13 calendar days from time of departure.
Charged by UPS on delivery (Canadian Dollars):
Brokerage GST (7%): $2.97
Customs GST (7%): $24.89
COD GST: $0.28
_____________________________
Total Government Charges: $28.14
"Entry Prep Fee": $36.95
"Disbursement Fee": $5.00
COD Surcharge: $4.00
=======================
Total Invoice: $74.59
After shipping and additional fees, my order was $100 more. Fine, I'll pay duty (GST), but the rest is a joke. The order wasn't even COD, they tacked that fee (and associated tax) on because I owed them all their additional fees on delivery.
