D Link Air Plus Xtremeg
#1
Just got my Wireless router and cardbus card from UPS this morning. After following all the instructions and ****, I decided to throw them back into the box and do everything the old fasioned way. After an hour of trying to figure this **** out with the manuals, I got everything set up in about 5 minutes using my head, LOL.
This thing is totaly bad ***, I can't feel any loss in speed nor any delay in loading. Basically, the only downside to going wireless is the cost you pay do it.
Summary:
D-Link Air Plus XTremeG High-Speed 2.4GHz Wireless Router (DI-624)
From Best Buy: $119.99
From TigerDirect.com: $89.61 (-$20 Mail-In Rebate)
D-Link Air Plus XTremeG High-Speed 2.4GHz Wireless PC Card (DWL-G650)
From Best Buy: $79.99
From TigerDirect.com: $59.99 (-$10 Mail-In Rebate)
Total from TigerDirect.com: $170.60
After Rebate: $140.60
Totals include tax for Illinois and UPS ground shipping. I ordered Friday night, received it in 2 bussines days since they have a shipping center here. So, I'm satiesfied as hell, it was great dealing with TD again and everything met my approval. If you consider going wireless, D-Link's Air Plus G stuff is the best in the industry. On top of that, the router lets you connect up to 4 other PC to it in order to split your current DSL or Cable line across the network.
I R HAPPY NOW.

I bought my SMC Barricade-G 802.11g from CompUSA for $165.. One router, one PCMCIA card, one PCI card. After I did a firmware upgrade, it worked awesome, and the NitroG technology allows higher throughput on g-only networks (as opposed to b & g networks).
EDIT: I ended up getting a hell of a deal and ... uh oh, I forgot to send in my rebate forms.. I wonder where those are..
better make my price a little over $200 then,
