in europe they have these neat wireless CC readers, and they run your car at the table.
So you swipe the card, and by the time you get outside your car is warm, or what?
That's ******* awesome.

So twice now we've had our cc number stolen, here's the odd part we don't use it online. When I make online buys I use a one use randomly generated number. In fact this time they caught it because of a bunch of online buys, which we don't do.
So wtf? The only thing i can think of is like a restaraunt or something, they are writing down? I dunno.

This has happened twice to me.
The 1st was someone in Anchorage Alaska going on a computer buying frenzy and everything being shipped to a Mail boxes Etc. in Anchorage. HP sent a drone box to the address and had their own fraud agents waiting to nab the suspect.
Here is the alarming part. The culprit was calling into my CC company and changing my billing addy to the Mail Boxes Etc. addy. TWICE!! I finally changed my mothers maiden name to a series of number and letters. It was really funny when they would verify it on the phone.
That was with a First USA Visa Card, their phone staff were idiots that let me through their "security check" with the wrong mothers maiden name. I no longer use them.
The second was with AMEX and it was run of the mill CC theft. 5 1st class round trip tickets from Madison Wisconsin to Ft. Lauderdale FL for spring break. I got the E-tickets at my house. I called AMEX right away and in 24 hours was credited back the charge. The best part, AMEX sent agents to the airport to nab the gaggle of Brittney's and Ashley's that bought the tickets. I felt it necessary to tip off the local TV news crew that the bust was going to happen. They said they would send a crew to the airport to catch the bust on tape.
Since I knew the exact time of their flights, I figured any chick named Brittney and Ashley would be dumb enough (think future pole dancers) to show up to try to claim their tickets. AMEX felt the same way, I figured this should be on the local news.
I never found out what happened with this. AMEX told me to back away and let them do their thing.
It was probably really random Scott, I am constantly watching my bills now for suspicious activity. It sucks!

^Wow, good stories!^
I once had my checkbook stolen and the idiot perp forged my signature a couple times while writing the checks out TO HIMSELF. Funny thing is my account and his were at the same bank. The douchebag was arrested the next day at his house listening to all his new CDs, lol.

My wife not too recently had her wallet snatched from her purse while she was at a crowded restaurant eating lunch. They proceeded to run up many $1000's of fraudulent charges within the hour or so that it took her to notice the wallet was gone. Not fun, but in the end all it cost us was a headache.

I went to Albania for four months.
While I was in AL-*******-BANIA, apparently I was taking the boys out drinking in SAVANNAH, GA.
I guess since I used to frequent this establishment, they figured I wouldn't mind if I continued spending money there while I was deployed.
Not a HUGE deal, but in 4 months I went there 5 times, and spent an average of 20 bucks a visit. I didn't go off on them, just told them it wasn't cool. They paid me back and I never went back.
