theres a few parties like that in vermont, libertarians, grassroots party, and at least one other one. Still, besides the libertarians, they're really just a joke. They never get any votes, which is probably just as well since legalizing pot is their sole issue.

legalization will not happen anytime soon... the government stands to lose too much money and power on the legalization of marijuana.

no more jobs enforcing illegal weed trafficking.

& whatever little taxes the government would get from companies springing up to 'manufacture' weed will be unsubstantial because then everyone in the country will just grow weed.
actually, government regulated sales of weed would work. those jobs that would be lost in the war on drugs (which costs tax payers, not the govt.) would be replaced by jobs in the weed production industry, which would add money to the economy instead of spend it. also, about the issue that people would still buy weed illegally, that would never happen because the prices of illegal marijuana would be so inflated due to high middle man costs (because of the high risk). government weed would be much cheaper even with a high sin tax because they would produce and sell it themselves. for these reasons, the government is missing out on a huge industry.

Nope....not the reason. The government will not legalize it because of all the tobacco and Alcohol companies that fund all these politicians. They know if weed was to become legal then the sales of beer and cigerettes would go way down for obvious reasons.

and I really don't think people would all just grow themselves.. it's expensive and a pain in the *** from what i hear. it's not like people grow their own tobacco also... and I don't smoke weed actually I don't have the brain cells to lose It just pisses me off that the gov is spending billions of tax dollars on something they could be generating billions of dollars on... it makes no ******* sense... I mean come on now.. when's the last time you heard of a guy getting high and beating the **** out of his wife, or some guy getting to death in one session.. granted you could get lung cancer, but you could also just make some brownies and that eliminates that problem

the funny thing is that everyone knows that alcohol can kill people in various ways, and that tobacco is one of the top causes of death. but if you think about it, have you ever heard of anyone dying from weed?
