your friend is going to be gone a little longer than a year right now gurard and reserve units have a min. in country deployment time of 1 year...now before they get to Iraq they will go to an active duty componant to be trained up on what they can expect to happen over there such as prisnor taking and care, guard duty combat skills etc..that can last 3 months.

My best friend got the call in Sept. He's been in Georgia and Fort Bragg training for the past months. He's managed to get a few weekends off since he's been gone. But this weekend is there last weekend home. His unit will be leaving next week to Iraq for at least a year. It sucks but he'll be back.

goin for special forces eh? Badass due to the fact they get some of the higher tech toys the military has to offer. I was considering going into Mobile Artillery.. Can't do Sniper school tho.. If you don't have perfect vision you won't make it..

my stepdad just left a few days ago for iraq.

*shrug* im gonna be travelling western europe in may, and south america in november. Had i joined the military 2 years ago when i wanted to, i wouldnt be able to do these 2 trips. I find traveling on your own accord is better than having uncle sam tell you when and where.

not my cup of tea.
