Okay, so since I can't use my car (on campus) my first year at Ga. Tech, I want to connect it, amp and all, to my computer.

I've posted this on some audio forums but they were not very helpful as far as the power issue. How do I connect my amp to a wall jack? I need someone to say, here's the part you need. Something like that.

I'm going to somehow find a cable that is a miniplug (headphones-style) on one end and RCAs on the other, apparently that's how the signal gets from the computer to the amp.

Oh well, any help is appreciated.

As far as the signal thing.. you are on the right track.. I have oneof those headphone jack to RCA wires.. Uh.. for the power I know there are power converters the can bring it down to 12 volts.. Go to your local electronics store and ask.. you just need a power converter to bring it down.. I will browse online and see if I can find anything..

Thanks for the help, where did you find that wire?

I tried searching online, but I was finding some expensive equipment, I mean stuff that was equal to me just buying a plate amp for home theater.

radio shack has the minijack to rca and they should have a power converter too.

I want AC to DC right? Car is DC...home is AC...

I'll pick up the miniplug from Radio Shack, but thanks for the offer!

what you need is called a 'Power Supply' or 'AC Convertor'

MANY R/C car guys use these to drive their battery chargers. I have one at home. They're also used in PC's as the source of DC power for all your hardware. ANY PC supply store, many electronic parts stores (probably not radio shack) will have this. Also try hobby shops. Usually the power supply has a (+) and (-) plug that have connectors so you can swap DC devices. Lemme find a link, it' so easy. I've done it before. Only problem you might hit is if you are over-drawing the power supply.

here, one of these ought to work:

I would think that you'd want at least a 15 AMP supply.
