I got to go on board a GATO class sub once. I can't imagine being in that thing for more than a few days. It reaked of diesel fuel, was hot and there was absolutely no room. I have a lot respect for the sailors who served on those WWII era subs.

yeah its at the big museum in chicago. the germans did something dumb, like air dry all the laundry, and got the boat captured. theres a us navy sub from ww2 in sf as well, and alcatraz, but thats not important

Actually, I've seen the sub in SF. Was there on my honeymoon. Well, in CA that is, not in the sub.
