I'm goint to be putting in a new motherboard soon and everyone I talk to says you should reformat and reinstall windows after a new Mobo. All my cool stuff is on the secondary HD, so Formatting the primary is no big deal.

I was wondering though should I install windows with the secondary unplugged then plug it in after everything is up and running? Or will it be alright if its I just leave it and reinstall. Basically I don't want windows install to erase my secondary HD. I doubt it will, but I don't have too much experience with this.

Advise?

Get a USB HDD, it's the best thing I ever got for my laptop, well, except the wireless ****.

As long as the two drives are recognized as separate partitions (no RAID) reformatting should be no problem with both plugged in.

I recommend using a small partition for just the OS and installing games and other programs to a different partition. WinXP only needs about a 5 GB partition for a full install.

Well c: is one partition and d: is the other. Theyre 2 different drives, so I think I should be ok. Thanks.
