came in our yard, mauled and killed one of our dogs. I had a chance to kill it in the street, but I was on my motorcycle, and I probably would've ended up injured.

I now have a Chesepeake Bay Retriever, which seems like he could kill anything if he really wanted.

Sorry, I'm a little bitter. We have neighbors that let their pits roam the street, scaring everyone into their houses.
Call the cops. Once their insurance company finds out they have pit bulls on the residence, they can kiss their home insurance goodbye and won't be able to get it until they lose the dogs. [/quote]

Oh, and the reason I really hate these 2 particular dogs, is that the larger one rushed at me once, as I was trying to get it away from my yard. Luckily there was a fence between us.

Called animal control. We told them where we thought the dogs resided. They went to the house, and asked the owners if they have the dogs. Owners denied having any dogs, except a poodle that stays inside. That's it.

Animal control suggests that if I see them again, try to get them in our yard, and lock the gate, then call them back. I'll have to buy a shotgun before I try that.

Pit Bulls = bad. I hope you know that almost all insurance companies will now drop your home insurance if they find out you have one. Just FYI.
The only bad thing about pit's, is the bad rap that people like you put on them. They're a dog like any other dog, not a tiger, not a bear, a DOG. If you treat ANY animal like ****, more then likely, they'll grow up mean.

I live in a neighborhood, where you wouldn't drive through at night. Home insurance, is the least of my worry's.

All they have to do is see the dogs tags. If they have tags, they can locate the owner who will be in some trouble, or if no tags they will be destroyed. Win/Win situation either way.

OK, whatever. That's why 99% of insurance companies drop home owners who have Pit Bulls huh? Cause it's a bad rap? Doubt it. There's way too many documented cases of these dogs being a menace to society and mauling people who just happened to be near them.

It's not my problem you live in the Ghetto. I am simply telling people the way insurance companies view these dogs, and that's not going to change. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Pit Bulls illegal within the next few years.

How many maulings and deaths do you hear of each year by Scottish Terriers or Greyhounds compared to Pit Bulls?? Right on.

Who said it was your fault where I live?

College = Money. Cars = Money.

While your at it, why is it, my dog, along with the other 5 pitt's in my neighborhood have yet to bite anything but themselve's? Surely, our dog's aren't an exception are they?

And how many cases of mauling's/death's do I hear of each year, where the owner NEGLECTED/ABUSED, they're dog's; not many, if any. Your knowledge is second hand, so is your mindset.

Geesh. Stop taking it personally. I never said YOUR dogs in particular did I? Nope I didn't. My knowledge is first hand. My wife is an insurance agent and has brought home 'Restricted Dog Lists' which ALL companies will drop you if they find you have them in your residence. Before you say my knowledge is second hand, maybe you should do some research. Nothing is more annoying that some newbie board member who comes here trying to start a pissing match over something they are totally uninformed about.

Do you think you could post some more breeds of dogs which are restricted? Not that I don't believe you or anything, I'm just curious. I'd hate to end up with a dog that causes me to lose insurance.

Here's the offical Restricted Breed dog list that most of the insurance companies will not tolerate:

Rotweilers

Pit Bulls (including American Staffordshires and Staffordshires)

Wolf Hybrids

Akitas

Chows

Dobermans

German Shepards

Huskys

Malamutes

Presa Canrios

I can honestly say I don't have a clue what the last 2 dogs on that list are, or what they even look like.

I don't get in pissing matches, I got tired of beating people's head's in like your's a long time ago. Bottom line, I've had my dog for 4 year's, my 7 yr old niece, has been around her for that entire time, and the meanest thing my dog has done to her, is fart. And when you say PIT BULLS, that include's, MY DOG.
