I think of it this way, if a shop charges me for a can of brake cleaner or carb cleaner... I want the rest of the can when they are done with the job! ... since I did pay for it!

But, I have to admit this is why I rarely use shops!

in a shop's defense, you can only give away so much before the books start depressing you at the end of the month.

if a shop is spending a couple hundred dollars a month in general supplies like aersols and what not someone has to pay for it.

I have seen $20,000 bills that break down things to 50 cents!

when dealing with insurance companies who want you to work as cheap as you can charging for all the "little things" is one

way a shop can get some money back

I don't mind them charging me... just give me the rest of the can, I did pay for it (and it says it on the reciept).

does it deter you from buying goods at the store...

knowin full well theres a x% tax that will placed on it when you hit the register..

tryin to see the reason for the concern as im not really sure theres a difference... same premise imho

No, no. Sales tax benefits an entirely different entity. I think Rob is referring to the seller's mentality of recouping the trivial dollar amount of the Paypal fee instead of just asking a slightly higher price or forgetting about it and chalking it up to the cost of doing business on the web. I guess you either get it or you don't. I just think it's trifling, that's all.

you cant compare sales tax to someone selling something over the internet and specifying 3% more then advertised price

to cover paypal. Just figure it in the price, dont list it seperate because how else is someone supposed to pay you?

If you think that its good practice then so be it.

I dont go to gas stations that charge extra for using a credit card, and I dont buy parts from someone charging 3% over price.

If I went up to a register with cash in my hands and there was a sign that said 3% will be added to purchases to cover credit card

fees I would put my items down and shop elsewhere.

Its not about being cheap if you're in business. Rob you of all people should know that you analyze ever single cost, after all you out to make money and thats the bottom line. Even $1 is one dollar, there is a reason most rich people are cheap.

Paypal rapes though no doubt.
