As someone said above about the IT industry, it is a field that will stick around for awhile. I had been working with computers since I was like 13, going through the range of programming, reverse engineering, hardware tweaking, etc, etc... I went to college and studied computer science with a strong emphasis on networking. I liked it a lot, but the more I went through classes, I realized that I didnt want to sit inside an office all day long ******* with some computer that some dickhead messed up by trying to look up porn on a company computer only so he can tell me "I dont know what happend, it just stopped working! These computers are stupid".



Not my cup of tea... I'd just end up ripping them apart and losing a client. I got my A+, went through all the MCSE training, ATA degree, etc, etc... Had job offers with some good companies and what looked to be a great future in the IT world.



I decided it wasnt going to work for me as a profession. I left that industry and became what I am now and I wouldnt change it for anything. I am happy and in the end thats what really matters.



If you want to be a **** sucker all your life there are plenty of jobs out there. Give a little more tongue action and you MIGHT just get that extra 50 cent raise next year! lol... that **** aint for me, but it works out for all the goombas in the world that are too scared to try something new. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

to me, money isnt THAT important, I'm a super cheap person.

Money buys freedom, and I could never see myself going back to a normal job and losing all the freedom I have.

Just remember that making money is the easy part of life.

First off what are your options if you get the degree, where are you gonna work, wut are gonna do? Does that seem interesting to you?



Few people in this world find a job they enjoy dragging their ass out of bed each morning for 8 to 10 hours, that's why they call it work, if it were fun, they'd call it vacation and no one would ask how many vacation and sick days they get when they start.... they wouldn't care cause it's just that great. No matter how much anyone claims to love their carreer if you offered them enough money to live for the rest of their life without doing the daily dollar dance they would jump at the chance.



Just because someone else did it and decided they didn't like it and moved on to something else doesn't mean it isn't right for you. If you see yourself in the field and able to muster through 30 years of it with a smile on your face then buckle down and get the degree. If you can't see yourself doing the job for 30 years without putting a bullet in your head then look into something else to do.



No one can tell you wut YOU want to do, most of them even though they don't know it haven't figured it all yet themselves and I am no exception, it's something you are going to have to putter through and figure out on your own.

always look for gov't jobs, union jobs, or semi-gov't jobs.



i'm in the process of applying for a "Waterfront Workman's License" to work at the Newark Port Authority in the Waterfront Union (gotta get a license to prove youre not a terrorist).



The only way you land these jobs are with connections and skills. It does pay off however, starting pay on Union Scale is $31.55/hour, with 90hour work weeks. first 40 hours is reg. time, next 40 hours is time and a half, and then that last 10 hours (or more depending on the week) is double time. So I have the potential to start off at almost $150,000/year at this job.



which is why ive been praying about 3 times a day everyday. waiting for "my phone call"



so yea look for gov't or union jobs and youll be fine.
