I'm for cars with numbers and/or letters. I own an RX-8 and an MPS.

Other great cars include..M3, GTR, GTa, XU1, GTHO, 330i, GT2, GT3.....599, AMG, etc, etc......

I just loathe some of the names given to cars. Nissan is a big culprit..TIIDA, SILVIA, CEDRIC, FAIRLADY,

Toyota, has Celica, Avalon, Camry,

I guess there are some evocative names, Mustang, Cobra, etc., but I like simple labelling.

What do you hate or love?

I'm in favor of the old custom of "naming" cars. Names like "Charger" or "Galaxie" or "Corvette" are a lot more interesting than the alphabet soup we see on most cars today. I attribute the alpha-numeric trend to marketing types who are trying to "focus" the customers' attention on the "Brand" rather than the "model". What they don't realize is that if they really want to sell cars, they should worry more about making a quality product and less about what the hell they call it.

I think the really pathetic thing about the alpha-numeric naming trend is that sure, once upon a time some of the best makes were named with letters and numbers--think Mercedes 500SL. Then we have a bunch of copycats ranging from the everyday to the mediocre--think Hyundai XG-300. I say the copycat carmakers need a smack upside the head with an originality bat.

You should never listen to anybody's theories in general discussion. It's all bullshit lies!!!

And no, what I am saying is that, Mercedes badge/emblem making dept. has saved alot of money over the years by not changing the names of their cars. SL series, AMG series, all the badging is the same.

I'm not sure "Sphincter" has much appeal, unless you're trying to cater to just one particular demographic. True, the car would sell very well in San Francisco, but in the bible belt, not so much.

I think the Ford Erect ***** would satisfy more buyers overall.
