So i was scheduled to work today from 2pm until 10pm, a usual 8hr shift. Today is our truck day, so we got alot of work to do.

I come in, no problems, were all working our asses off. Now i havent had my car, but since my dad left for bike week today i have his. It's going on 7:00 and the assistant manager comes to me and instructs me to call my ride and tell them i will be there later than ten.

So i tell him i have my own ride, but why would i need to stay past ten? "Chris" is our district manager.

"Chris said no one leaves until all the truck gets done, its approved overtime. Anyone who doesnt comply has to be written up."

me: "Dale i cant stay, my parents are @ BW i have to get home and take care of the dog, and beyond that i have alot to do of my own."

"Welp you dont have a choice, your required to stay."

me: "Until 10pm. I make plans in accordance with my schedule, which has been posted for days, i cant just up and drop them 3 hours before im done i need more notice than that."

"I'll have to write you up."

me: "Thats insane how can you write me up for something im not required by the manual to do? You made the schedule, if you need me to work after then then start writing it that way."

I have never said no to overtime, i like the money, but THREE ******* HOURS before im done????? The company has no policy for time they must notify within, what the ****.

I left at ten, im not signing any write up that is absured.

I think most places require 24hrs notice before a mandatory schedule change. Look into that.

Not washington, you aren't required any notice and you can be fired if you refuse to work it, the only thing they have to do is pay you time and a half, call labor and industries, they will tell you what your rights are.

What I meant was that you should check with your company's policy regarding overtime. Also, try contacting an OSHA representative and see what they say.

Where do you work? If it seems like Wal-Mart or large retail store, during this time of the season, they never let ANYBODY get overtime. They would actually send people home early if they had over 32 hours.

They can't write you up for that, that is some horseshit. If this district manager writes you up, contact the Regional Vice President, or call the home office/headquarters. Wal-Mart could never **** with me, but in the end, I fucked them by leaving.

The only way they allowed over time is if you asked for(don't count on getting it), or you were a Deparment or Support Manager. I always had overtime though.

Working retail sucks, I did it for 2 years, and got tired of the low wage, shitty hours, and no promotions, or merit raises. Especially wal-mart.

And on a happier note, wal-mart just made another 100 million dollars from the time I posted that reply to this reply.

And to your signature, the Olsen twins turn 18 on June 13th. Ask me how I know this? You gotta know these things. You gotsta call up R.Kelly so he can shoot some video of him peeing on them. C'mon!!
