Dont get one with a built in firewall, some firewalls wont let u play online games

I'll have what the guy in your avatar is having!

hmmm yes...

Actually you prolly need a router and not a hub/switch. You can use the hub if you have multiple ips, which is rare from any ISP. The router will share one ip using NAT/DHCP.

There aren't really any switches that will disable ports, a router will, but I have not had any issues with gaming all you have to do is open the ports.

Not Linksys my friend, hes right you do need a router, not a hub. Deffinately dont go with linksys(according to me) but it still might work. A friend of mine uses a linksys router for xbox live and it seems to work but you wont be able to host any servers. I say check out D-Link, their routers are solid

And linksys customer support cannot speak english.

I recommend the DLink as well, but on any router if you are trying to accept incoming connections you are going to have to forward the ports to proper ip, doesn't matter the brand. Playstation has it's own servers, nothing is hosted on your end so as long as he's just using his PS2 it won't be an issue.

I have the Linksys units and they work perfectly for gaming. You just have to know how to properly configure a router, and know which ports you need opened. Try reading the instructions, or online FAQ's/forums before you qualify something as not working.

Also incorrect, firewalls do not prevent you from playing online games. People who do not take the time to understand how to properly configure them keep themselves from playing games, etc. Don't blame the equipment.
