Let's see Friday we had network issues at the office, turned out to be ISP, but it took the majority of the day to get things back up and running. Then I arrived home to a crashed hard drive, which I just got my system back the way I like it last night... so I haven't been on much.

Woke up early this morning to get my Buffett tickets to New York... was hoping to take a little trip out there... no dice ticketbastard sucks.

Anyhow figured I'd rant a little since I hadn't been around much this weekend. Hope everyone is doing well.

My recent problem is mostly my fault, with a helping hand from Uncle Sam, if the local county government counts under that lable. Property taxes (2nd half) are due today.

Sooo, being a space cadet, I didn't mail it off a week ago like I should have. Oh no, that would be how a SENSIBLE person would handle things.

My method involves climbing in to a car at 2:30pm, and driving downtown, where nothing moves along the ground until at least 7:00pm, and the government offices close at 3:00pm.

So I actually make good time downtown, but when I get within 2 blocks of the building I now have 20 minutes to get into to pay the bill before they lock the doors and charge a penalty, they have the one way roads narrowed down to one lane, and the lights appropriately timed to let cross traffic block the intersection after every green light. I spend 5 minutes each at two intersections within a block of each other because people think it is okay to block the intersection because "they were next" or something. Mind you this insanity is on EVERY approach to the building. Almost like they knew I was coming.

So I fanally make it to the ramp, where thanks to Osama Bin Turd, they have to check out your car before allowing you to park, and I look at the clock. 2 minutes to make it to whatever floor I need to be at. Abort! Abort!!

So I had a nice leisurly drive in the rain through rush hour traffic on my way back home. The expenditures of the afternoon? An hour and a half in traffic, a buck or two in gas, 60 points on my blood pressure, and a penalty on my property tax. What did I accomplish? Abso-f'n-lutely NOTHING.

Couldn't they just take my arm and my leg like they REALLY want?!?

Thanks the creator for my sense of humor. And everyone else can thank the crator I don't work for the Post Office.

Things can only get better from here. I hope...

Not yet, but rest assured it will be. The government has a way of working things out. I just hope they don't work me over too much in the process.
