First I would like to say that I have nothing but the utmost respect for the majority of people in this forum. I did not make this post to insult anyone’s intelligence or to create a “flame” situation. I enjoy getting the extremely helpful advice and opinions from all of you about my car. I also enjoy reading the advice and opinions you give to everyone else about their cars. This is probably one of the few forums I go to on a regular basis.

To address what someone said earlier. Yes, the organization is Quixtar. But to say Quixtar = Amway is like saying Wal-Mart = Sams Choice soda. Sure you can get Sams Choice soda at Wal-Mart, but you can also get Coke and Pepsi. Not to mention the other 100’s or 1000’s of name brand products.

To the person who said the average “Amway” rep makes $50 a month. I do not know anyone who is an Amway rep anymore. Not to be an *** or anything, but you may want to get together facts before posting dollar amounts of the “average”. And I would get those facts from both people who have TRIED to make the Quixtar business succeed and did so and from someone who TRIED to get the business to succeed and did not have such luck. To be quite honest, if I was approached by someone tying to get me to sell Amway products I would tell them to take a flying leap also. John Sestina (sp) who is on of (if not the) top financial planners in the US looked at the Quixtar (not Amway) business and not only recommended it, but he also is an associate of the Quixtar organization. There is a lot of negative stigma attached to Amway and probably rightly so. Who wants to sell soap door to door? Not me.

The bottom line is that the majority of the people who want to crap on Quixtar 1) Thought it was a get rich plan and they never put the work into it so it failed, or 2) Don’t really know any more about it than what they have heard someone else say, who didn’t know anything about it. All I am saying is you may want to get more information before passing judgment. It is amazing to me how many people want to bitch and moan about their jobs and how little money they make but they are the first ones to turn their nose up at an opportunity. Ray Kroc went through the same thing. He got a room of people together and said he wanted to open the food stands all over the country. The people who he invited laughed walked out on him. He is the franchise owner of McDonalds for those of you who don’t know. Look at that business now.

If the admin wants to remove this post I completely understand respect that decision. Again, I am not trying to start a bunch of static on the forum. I was just trying to open some minds and eyes. That’s all. Nothing more. I apologize for the long post. With all that being said, I will not post anything else about this business out of my continuing respect for the people on this forum.

LOL we don't remove to many posts around here. There are drawbacks to an open forum such as this one. The policy is, post what you want, but remember that everyone can reply with whatever they want.

Soooo, if you are selling parts and they are overpriced, or you screwed someone expect to see a reply to that effect.

As far as a post like this, as vague as it was I could have told you from the get go what direction it was going, but I seriously doubt there are any hard feelings on this board, you have to be able to take a little **** around these parts... most people are pretty thick skinned

You are absolutly right. It was vague and I should have been more specific. I did not think there would be any hard fellings either. You are all a good group of people.

Peace.

I got the dollar amounts from Canadian Business, a well-respected magazine that did an in-depth report on such companies as Mary Kay, Amway, etc.

And Qixtar is owned lock, stock, and barrel by Amway; in fact it is a case of 'branding' an existing company, not the Wal-Mart/Sam's analogy offered.

I applaud you for being so enthusiastic about your venture, but you'll notice that virtually all of the positive anecdotes about such schemes (in the true sense of the word, not implying deception or malice) is published by or presented by the company in question. You don't see Forbes touting companies like Amway or Qixtar on its covers or MSNBC News praising its distribution structure. Even in your own original post you evade mentioning the company by name, though I give you kudos for clarifying later.

However, if your opportunity was such a gem, you'd think your upline would encourage you to tout the name right off the bat, not withold it as long as possible.

As one with experience in internet marketing, there is really no need for "downlines" for web sales - commissions for referrals can be easily generated through existing banner partnership programs (similar to, but more accurate than, click-through programs). Companies that attempt to use their "real" world sales models grafted onto an internet scheme are doomed to (a) throw money at it until they admit it isn't profitable or (B) go belly up, leaving those who "invested" in "distributorships" in the lurch.

I wish you success in this or whatever venture you attempt; the enterpreneurial spirit is a wonderful thing. If you wish, you may even open a free account on my online classifieds site at http://www.stuffsmart.com and promote your products through detailed text & pictures.
