I'm putting some new rotors on soon, and was just wondering what everyone's opinion on which is better. Which type perform better? Which type lasts longer under abuse? Also, does anyone have any custom brake-duct setup ideas?

I can't remember which company it was, but I remember seeing a site that had a dust-shield-type-thing, that had holes already in it for running duct. I'll see if I can find it again.

Well, stock or stock looking lasts the longest since there's nothing to break or crack in the face of the rotor like slots or holes. On top of that, after uneven pad wear causes rifts and waves in the rotor face, any car dealer with a service dept. should be able to mill them back to perfection for a reasonable fee.

Now here's the hard part, which is better? Everybody has their opinions but I've heard a few stories about drilled rotor's cracking under extreme track use and abuse. I'd always prefer slotted rotors over drilled or stock. They're usually cheaper then drilled ones, last longer, disperse heat evenly as opposed to drilled rotor's where heat can escape through any little hole, and they look a lot cooler.

Yeah I know, what do looks have to do with it. Looks are important to me too, and drilled rotor's just look too busy for my tatse.

Hope this helps.

I've had cross drilled and slotted Brembos for over 2 years now without a single problem with them.

I prefer the slotted although PowerSlot just came out with a cross drilled/slotted version I just haven't listed it in the store. I've been very happy with the slotted rotors I've installed on my cars. They made a HUGE difference in my Dad's truck.

Thanks! I headed towards slotted anyway (something about HOLES in the rotors turns me off). My decision is made!

yeah holes in the rotors is/are bad for 2 reasons.

1. it takes away mass from the rotors, remember the rotors job is to turn motion into heat, the most iron you have the more heat it can absorb

2. the holes give cracks a place to start

same here... I don't compete with my FD, but when I drive it it gets driven pretty damn hard, no cracks, eneven wear, etc...

mine are just drilled though...

the next set I get will probably be slotted however
