Does look much better then the original plastic e-brake cover. Does the E-brake handle thread on or is there a screw for it or something? It doesn require any vast installation does it? I could get a handle to match my shifter **** ( which isnt in the pic ), I would get a leather cover to replace the plastic crap cover there now.
No, there aren't any threads on the e-brake. I had to bore out the **** to slide over the handle. I made it just large enough to go on with a little force so it is tight. But afterwards the stock plastic piece didn't fit. It was ugly any way and that is why I wanted a boot. I found this guy who makes them and figured for $20 more I could get a matching shift boot in leather rather then vinyl.

I Highly recommend Ralf. He does quality work with fast turnaround. Well worth the fifty dollars and it matches your interior scheme that you are going with. He had to find the yellow I needed and sent me a pic of like 8 different yellows to choose from. Came out perfect and is a drop in replacement like I said.

Was the original handle glued on as well? I was going to get a voodoo handle to match my ****, I was reading the installation instructions for the voodoo handle, and it says the old one is glued on and to remove another piece as thier handle has a keyway and a screw. They make stuff for Miatas, so I dont know if the installation would be the same on our cars. So does this make any sense now that you been thru it? Is there some sort of keyway on the shaft when the handle is removed, and was the old one kind of glued on?

I don't think I had any glue on mine. If I did it was worn through. It just pulled off with a little twisting and some force.

I really don't know anything about the voodoo *****. I was under the impression that it was a direct fit and miatas had the same ebrake handle and the same threads on the shifter. I am looking to find a shifter I like now. I think I like the mazdaspeed one. I want something that threads on and doesn't require modding.

I highly recommend everyone who owns a 7 and has a ripped boot, doesn't like the ugly stock plastic piece, or wants a little customization in their interior to get a boot though, you won't be disappointed
