Ok so as some of you may or may not know i was in a legal bind:
September of '02: arrested for robbery, 3 charges of conspiracy, aiding and abetting, and assault.
March '03: sentenced to 1 year probation, $3000+ fines, 75hours community service. This probation was on a dropped, single charge, to "Disorderly Person: Illegal Taking". Had probation not been reached the proposed sentence was 7 years in jail with 85% served, mandatory.
September '03: Arrested for possession, possesion with the intenet to distribute, and Driving with a CDS, due to me having some e pills on me.
October '03: Probation meeting, probation officer notes that if charges are kept and i plead guilty, or am found guilty, the most likely action from the Probation Violations Department would be full previous sentence, aka 7 years in jail with 85% served, plus the charges i got for the possesion etc.
December '03: Case against me is dropped from grand jury to municipal court, a blessing for those who dont understand.
February '04: Municipal Court Appearance. My lawyer talks to the prosecutor, i was appearing for a total of 5 charges (possesion, intent to distribute, driving with a cds [controlled dangerous substance], careless driving, and failure to inspect) We are granted a recess for an extended conference with the prosecutor. An agreement is reached my lawyer and prosecutor beltree reappear in court. They combined my possesion, distributuion, and driving with a CDS into 1 charge which they then sent for a "Conditional Discharge". And my other 2 tickets were thrown out.
Now Conditionional Discharge means i wasn't found guilty, of anything. Which means NO PROBATION VIOLATION, which is a godsend. All i have to do is be a good boy for another year and those charges are removed from my record as if i never received them. I had to pay $850 worth of fines, but its worth it.
The tickets being thrown out were a godsend as well because i was on driver's probation and if any points were put on my record i would lose my license for over a year. The "Driving With a CDS" ticket comes with a mandatory 2 year suspension of license and sick amounts of fines, so i would've lost my license for 3+ years. But all that was thrown out or merged.
My lawyer is officially god, and worth every cent even though it means the 7 has to wait longer for its upgrades and my girl will have to deal with some homemade food every now and then.
just want everyone to know: APPRECIATE your freedom, for you don't know fear until you face losing such a privilege.
