All styles offer can something quite unique if you look for it. If I go somewhere and it is the only style I'm drinking I will usually go for stouts. I normally start at lighter styles like pales, browns, lagers and work my way up in order of style.
You have to always top off the night with a Barleywine though. Somehow that style missed the poll.

I havent heard of a barleywine though. I was only posting basic beer types anyways as there are a lot more types out there. I like white beer for one, like Hoegaarden.

I like a good strong stout (Guinness rules) but like porters just as well.
I also like most bock beers and pale ales. In fact most ales are pretty good. I don't like any american beers (Bud, Coors, etc). Cask Cured ales really rock.
I also like belgian beer.

I have cheap tastes, as I am an underaged, starving college student. Any cheap, light beer suits me just fine. Some of my older friends moan about me drinking "**** water," but I just tell them that ignorance is bliss, and I'm paying 1/4 of what their beer costs, and yet enjoying it just the same.

Barleywine style is a very heavy beer with an alcohol percentage upwards of 11-13% thus the name barleywine since wine runs about 12-14%. Here in the US, Anchor makes an excellent one called FogHorn.
Rogue brewery in Oregon makes a good one also called Old Crustacean. A brewery in England whose name currently escapes me makes a good one called Old St. Nick (Very sweet)
Another excellent, excellent example is from Sierra Nevada Brewery called Bigfoot. This is very hoppy and if you want to know what cascade hops taste like, grab you one of these. A lighter example of cascade hops, not in the barleywine style, is Red Seal Ale from Northcoast Brewery in California. Great beer from this place.
Hoegaarden makes a great White beer but the finest white beer can no longer be found. That was from Celis brewery in Austin, Texas. Peter Celis was from Belgium and made some of the best beer around then sold out and the buyers stopped producing because he was their competition. Greatly missed brewery here in Texas.
Cask conditioned beers are excellent. One of the finest examples is from St. Arnold brewery in Houston Texas. They have a cask conditioned ale that is the nectar of the gods.
