This would be my 2nd full car. But I've done a handfull of hoods, a handfull of bumpers, and some other odds and ends. I learned on a hood with metalic paint, so I spent a couple hundred messing things up till I figured it out. My air compressor is some tiny piece of junk thats not "big enough" for the job, but it works. Kinda like my dirty garage. I have a good gun that cost a few hundred for base and clear, and a cheapo gun for filler primer. I recently bought a $50 gun from harbor freight, which isn't half bad actually, but there is a noticable diffrence in spray quality. So I used it for primer on this car, but painted the underside of the car with it.

Looking good, how many hours would you say you have into it?
A booth is nice to use, if you have one, but not necessarily a must.
debris is a minimal part of it, controlling the temp is more important

air flow over the paint is whats nice about a downdraft booth, unitl you spray in one you would not believe the difference, the way you can lay the paint down is incredible. You almost have to learn how to paint all over again when you spray in a downdraft booth its that different. Never mind the staged baking capability.
I like when my friend who always painted in his booth sprayed his boat out in his shop- he ran the whole side of it because he is so used to painting in the booth!
