I was thinking that too. If you have an engine putting out 1600hp why not have more than 9000rpms?

In order to turn higher than 9K the waterbrake has to be reclearanced and balanced at the factory. again its a matter of tradeoffs: Higher RPM capability = less time between rebuilds



The majority of the work is done below 9K, so while not the ideal solution, its better than nothing

If you really needed to you could hook up a reduction gearbox anyway.

9000's plenty fast. A nice SBC stroker motor is all done by 6000 anyways.
