First off, this site is awesome. I love the emoticons. Anyway, I have been doing a lot of research on rotaries since I decided to boost my performance. I've started with the exhaust after consulting many forums and other sources of information. My question is basic. Does the rotary need back pressure. If so, why? I know it definitely hurts the performance. But does it hurt the engine with very little back pressure. A guy in town wants to sell me a "system" worth lots of bucks. ****, I can do the same thing for a lot cheaper. I'm not big on letting other guys work on my car when I've got all the knowhow and tools to work on it. All I need is information. He told me that without the back pressure I'll blow my engine. I've talked to many people and even got on rotarymaniacs forum for info. One guy was nice enough to email me with his knowledge. He said the rotary runs better without it. Actually I know first hand. I love trying things so have already removed the restrictive cats and replaced them with a straight pipe. I'm running it back to the y-pipe and into two high flow mufflers, dynaflows, which sound awesome. I love the low sound the car has and the power has increased substantially. For some reason the actuators are still opening, I'm just not sure they open all the way. That's a minor point, I'm going to do some testing and I can get them to work for sure. I just want to be sure my engine is not going to "blow" in a week. Its been two weeks now and no problems. I love the loudness and the extra low end and high end power. If someone can help me out please do so. C'mon you rotary manics, gimme whatchya got! Thanks in advance! :smirk:

A lack of backpressure will not hurt a rotary. Lack of proper fuel will hurt a rotary. Make sure to do your homework, and tune it right, and your car will be safe and fast.
