good looks can only carry you for so long.... it loses its aura once your exposed..

I think the statement has some validity, but it's definitely field-dependent. If you're in management or sales, then your good looks can get you the big promotions. If you're a techie stuck in a dark room somewhere, who the **** cares what you look like?
