Been with them for about 8 years, bought a motorola phone off of their website, after rebates was supposed to be $50.00, well they screwed me out of $100.00. When I call and bitch they tell me it isn't their problem, that I need to contact some 3rd party rebate company who isn't part of ATT or Motorola. These guys basically told me to go **** myself, so I am screwed.

I have to agree with you Scott on AT&T, they are a VERY good company to me.
A few times when I went over on my calling plan they have back-dated a new plan and not made me pay, the warranty department has been super to me, I go thru phones like crazy dropping them, getting them dusty, melting one once, and they send me a new phone next day no charge ever.
When I wanted a newer style phone instead of charging me $200 like the store wanted to, they charged me $60.
I would maybe try calling back and getting someone different on the phone and seeing if you can get different results.

AT&T Wireless has been great to me. I've user their service for about two years now. I've got a pretty good deal with them. Free phone, free local minutes, heavily discounted long distance. The only downside is I have to show up at the headquarters fro about 40 hours every week and pretend to be working.
