Anyone Watch The Show The Shield?

Yeah, as the Commish he was such a nice guy. This character on the shield is a complete 180 from that other role. I was surprised when I saw the first episode of The Shield. I was thinking to myself - "Hey, that's the Commish. He doesn't beat guys to a pulp with phonebooks, does he?"
