I'm going to be moving to England towards the end of next year and I'll probably be living there for the next five years, maybe more. Obviously, I'm not going to ship my 7 over there, so I was wondering about what kind of RX-7s were available in the UK. Just a curiousity, really, as a 7 would be highly impractical, what with the cost of gas and everything. I think a 3rd gen(?) 626 with an FE-DOHC engine would be a much better choice for daily transportation, lol.

Anyway, anyone have any idea?

Try this link: http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/

That is a RX7 club somewhere in England (I think). This may shed some light on the RX7 scene abroad.

Thanks for the link.

So are RX-7s pretty rare in the UK? It seems that pretty much all the 3rd gens are Japanese imports; what about the 2nd gens? How rare is it to find a TurboII?

What kind of regulations would I have to go through if I decided to ship my '87 TII to the UK? Would it need emissions, etc.?

I think that anything under 10 years old has to go though a SVA test and needs a model report ( which is not about yet ) turbo 2s are pretty cheap and easy to come by. I f you speak to the right people you can get away with pretty much anything.

Where abouts in the uk are you planing on being. I can point you in the right direction.

Yeah, as far as I know it'll have to do an SVA, which is gonna be a right pain if it's the same one kit cars have to pass - amongst other things what'll annoy you most is the fact that you can't have any sharp edges so you'll have to go over stuff with raduised trim. I'm not 100% sure that imported cars are tested to the same extent as kits though - I reccommend you get an SVA manual off ebay or somewhere.
