I have one sitting around that came from an RV. My father had picked it up some time ago to hook up to the house and never did. I know nothing about it but thinking with hurricane season it may be a good idea. Anyone anything that could help me out here?

It's worthless. I'll come by and dispose of it for you.

Always handy to have one around. A lot like a cheap hooker in that regard. Any idea how many watts? You want to be careful if you're going to be running things with motors (like refrigerators) because if the unit is too small or you have it overloaded, the voltage drop can kill a motor.

It's my belief that smaller, more efficient refrigeration and air conditioning compressors will be key in the "green" revolution. Also awesome for saving money and alleviating pressure on our antiquated electrical grid.

Imagine a small, quiet, low maintenance, low energy compressor (compared to current industry standards). In the summer time, those peak power draws when people get home from work would go way down. Food transport and storage will become cheaper. The amount of electricity/money saved in commercial refrigeration and air conditioning would add up considerably.

Sorry for the tangent, I'm just excited about new technology. I can't wait for residential applications to be developed.

who makes the generator, what's the generator output (should be stamped on a placard on the generator itself). i have to work on them for the military, but mine are the massive ones that can power two c-130's at once lmao

lol it's the old roots blower 2-stroke 4-cylander detroit deisel hooked to a generator twice the diameter and length of a 13b. we have another one for fighters that also has bleed air to air start the fighters that's powered by the old huey's turbine engine lol

Sounds like either one of those would probably be big enough to run a fridge!

lol we have ones that're actually meant for ground power. they're turbo 6's from cat hooked to massive generators. they'll run a hundred amps at 220 volts
