Alright, I've got a question for you.

Some friends and I put together a basketball team, its mostly ex-high school JV 2nd stringers just to give you a general picture of overall skill level. Average height is 5'9" with no real big men except one guy who is 6'1" and is used to playing post and can work it down low pretty well. He's really quick and has good ball handling and a long reach.

Overall our team has a good midrange jumpshot, 3 point shooting is a little weak but I think we can work on that. Ballhandling is weak-average. And passing is average. A lot of our newer players have a hard time figuring out where to go and how to get open. And not really anyone can get open off of the dribble.

I think that our best bet at getting open for our team is running off of screens and bouncing the ball into the post.

But here is my question, what kind of offensive set should we run, or should we even run a set offense to begin with. We're playing in a tournament and thas why I ask this quesiton.

I was thinking a 4 out 1 in motion offensive. Should be simple enough for our newer players to grasp and will free up the inside for our post to work things.

When we just play pickup our team has a really bad problem of clogging the lane which is why i think the motion offense even if we dont run it very strictly would help just to improve floor spacing.

Finally, I have a second post player who is around 6 even...he's strong, has a decent midrange J, but he is extremely slow, has weak rebounding skills, poor vertical, and I am having a hard time teaching him post moves. I've spent about 2 weeks with him and he still turns his jumphook into an off balance layup. Should I keep him at low post and keep trying to teach him post moves? Or should I try him at high post. I'm not saying he'll be amazing at either one of those positions but those are the only palces I can see putting him...

Anyways thoughts would be cool.

There are so many ways to tear this topic apart, I am just too tired to do it.
