I did! The screen is amazing, not even the slightest bit of pixelation, and text is smooth and readable at any size.

phinsup 06-24-2010 08:32 PM

I'll prolly get one in a few weeks, i gotta sell my 3gs's first.

j9fd3s 06-24-2010 11:33 PM

i'm fine with my 3.... gonna wait til it dies

banzaitoyota 06-25-2010 07:13 PM

still happy with the Tour

Seppuku 06-25-2010 09:43 PM

im keeping the 3 for a while just to see how the new one is.

Its nothing like the change was from the original to the 3g, and and even farther from the 3g to the 3gs. Its a huge step in the technical stuff. The screen is unbelievable, its very fast, and the camera rivals point and shoot cameras form just a couple of years ago. Then you have hi def video recording.

Just updating to the 4.0 OS on the 3gs gives you a lot of the functionality of the new one, but having used both, the new one still outperforms it by a considerable margin.

phinsup 06-26-2010 03:16 PM

It should, it has 512mb ram LOL even more than the stupid iPad.

My desktop doesnt even have 512mb... I think it has a slower processor too...

phinsup 06-28-2010 06:29 PM

I went and looked at them today, not sure if it's worth the hassle to upgrade or not. It's nice but i dunno that it's that much nicer than the 3gs

I upgraded from an original 3g, but I have a few family members and friends with the 3gs and every one of them has wanted a new iphone after seeing mine. The software is a big step, but it still has nothing on the hardware of the new one.

I'm sure I'll end up getting one sooner than later, I'm just saying i went to the store expecting to not be able to live without the v4 one and I feel like I definitely could LOL

By the way I offended the ATT store lady, she said "you coming in tomorrow? You better get here early and get in line"

I said "you kidding, who waits in line for a phone that in 2 weeks I'll be able to have delivered to my door within 24 hours??"

Baldy 06-29-2010 08:29 AM

My brother recently bought an iphone, and he found out that he could trade it up for the new one. He went by our AT&T store at 7:30 this morning, this is what they told him to do the day before. The line was around 3 sides of the building, and he waited for a bit before realizing it was going very slow. He left, and drove by 1.5 hours later, and the people that were in front of him in line were about to go in the front door. What a waste of time.

Yea I drove by an att store on the way into a meeting this morning. At 6:30 am there was prolly 50 people waiting in line. Makes no sense what so ever, when you will be able to walk into a store in a week and buy the thing without waiting in line.

I pre-ordered mine. It was on my doorstep thursday morning. Screw the waiting in line thing, I didnt last time, and I wasnt about to this time.

G2G 06-30-2010 11:02 AM

Phins honestly I would wait. In a year they will have rolled out 4g and the iphone4 won't be compatible. For me at least, the upgrades in hardware is not enough to justify paying 500 bucks(plan won't expire till next summer). I've had the 3Gs since last summer and with the new software update I think it's awesome. Besides there are lots of bad reviews about the iphone4's antenna dropping calls and losing complete service because of the way you hold it.

TYSON 06-30-2010 12:39 PM

It's still a telephone right? lol

Baldy 06-30-2010 01:04 PM

I'm surprised we made it 16 posts before someone did touched on the "I remember when a phone was just a phone" subject.

I want a bag phone, so the excuse that I left my phone at home would be more believable.

Yea I'm still on the fence, although it's not really dropping $500, i can get $400 easily for my 3gs, so...

phinsup 06-30-2010 09:03 PM

Meh, **** it i just ordered one from apple, if I don't like it i will return it.

Honestly i really like iOS 4, but the battery life on my 3gs has been horrible since I upgraded.

Seppuku 07-03-2010 10:37 AM

has anyone here used one of the extra batterys on the iphone? i was thinking about trying to get one soon, tired of it dying everytime i leave the house

Is wifi off? Before Ios 4 I never had a dead battery on my 3gS, it always lasted the entire day. Now when I get home from work I'm getting the 20% warning. The only time I've really ran into battery issues with iphones is people who leave their wifi on when not connected.

Seppuku 07-04-2010 10:56 AM

Wifi broke on mine. It's a grayed out option now so it hasn't been on in a long while

Take it back to apple yo, assuming its still under warranty. I think I'm going to go for the squaretrade warranty this time because it covers water and drop damage.

Post the details on that, Im interested.

I would wait on the phone for a bit, due to some big issues with the reception being reported. There is a class action Lawsuit against apple over this already and if it is indeed true there should be a hardware revision soon. Maybe its all just BS.

Like I said it doesn't really matter, if I have issues I have 30 days to take it back. From talking to the people I know that own one, they arent having any issues.

I say its BS. Mine gets FAR better reception than my 3g did.

Its almost as cool to hate on the iphone as it is to have one. There is no in between on it, almost everyone has a very polarized opinion on it.

Actually if you were say a company that didn't have a phone that even comes close to the iphone and you were losing customers..... when a new model comes out a starts selling so fast they can't even keep taking pre-orders it's not a bad idea to come up with some sort of story that makes the phone sound defective ya know?

logic and reason? damn you!

75 Repu 07-14-2010 12:21 AM

Any of you guys lefties? Apparently its more of a problem for left handed users due to where you place your hand when you hold it. Hell give your local apple store a call about it, maybe they will give you a free case for the phone, which is said to help the issue.

Im not a leftie, but I do always hold my phone with my left hand. Its only an issue for people who palm the phone. Personally, Ive always been in the habit of just using a few fingers to hold onto the phone, and no issues whatsoever.

how do we call them if the phones don't work?

phinsup 07-16-2010 03:03 PM

Mine shipped today.

Honestly I don't ****** get it. You have 30 days to return the phone, no charge, no penalties. Buy it if you want one, if it doesn't work the way you want it to take it back. Buy an iphone 3gs, save yourself a few bucks and you'll be happy.

3 million phones in three weeks, you don't think verizon is shitting their pants? A lot of parties have a lot to gain from an apple failure.

Did you see the photos of the testing room? That **** was scary, what the **** is apple doing in there LOL

I thought the statistics in the press conference were pretty ******* stupid. Apple could have made up any numbers they wanted too, there's no way to check them.

phinsup 07-17-2010 12:40 AM

Spent a great deal or time with an iPhone 4 today, right next to my 3gs and right next to a 3g, all 3 running 4.0.1. I cannot replicate the signal issue on this phone, no matter how I hold it, the signal stays the same. Furthermore, it continually has to 1 or 2 more bars than the 3gs.

I don't get my new phone until wednesday, but I set up some things on a friends iphone 4. The screen is beyond belief, the feel of the phone is significantly better. With the sloped back on the iphone 3 I would continually have it sliding out of my hand if it didn't have some kind of case that grips, the iphone 4 is much easier to hold on to as well. It's thinner and for whatever reason just seems sturdy. The home button and volume buttons also seem a lot sturdier, all in all it seems like a higher quality phone.

photos are great out of the iphone 4. I was pretty happy with the 3gs photos, but man the 5 mp camera on the 4 takes noticeably better photos.

I'll get to play with mine in real world conditions next week, but I did download a flashlight app that uses the LED flash and it was pretty cool.

The screen is beyond belief. I was completely blown away by the detail. Officially, the resolution is funer than the human eye can see, and I believe it. Even the smallest text or details in pics comes through clear as day.

The camera is phenomenal. I have a few friends who are photo majors at an art school, and I have gotten kudos from them on some of the shots taken with my phone.

Bottom line is the only people who hate the phone dont have one. Its a HUGE step up from even the 3gs

phinsup 07-17-2010 01:18 PM

The question is which arrive first, my replacement apple time capsule or my iPhone 4 LOL

75 Repu 07-25-2010 10:47 PM

there was an art expo with only Iphone photos being displayed.. they had some very nice pics. The whole debacle is now being referred to as Antennagate! Oh yeah Mikey you gotta call them on the land line duh!! If you still have one of those, or borrow a verizon/sprint phone to make the call. And the rumors are out again about VZW getting the Iphone in 2011.. lol https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/violin.gif
