I use a Mach 3 TURBO baby! and I use a regular hair trimmer for my electric. I have a norelco but it isn't the same since I dropped it. I too have to shave "against the grain" or it barely does anything.

Mach 3 for me. Electric doesn't get close enough, at least not the ones I've tried.

Shaving against the grain gets closer for me, but also irritates more (depends also on how long it's been since my last shave). I shave with the grain, doesn't get as close, but nobody can tell because it looks smooth next to a beard.

I also shave to the bottom of my neck, gotta get those strays.

Does that itch when it grows out? I'm afraid to go any closer than a 2 or 3 setting on my beard trimmer. And there's just some places I don't feel comfortable going with anything sharp, ya know?
