Yea that's right, the war on our environment. Why the **** is it taking so long???? they say by 2048 we'll no longer have any fish left in the ocean http://www.seedmagazine.com/news/2006/11/s...ont_go_fish.php
People are pissed about Iraq, for christ sakes how long are we going to have fight this war? Couldnt we use nukes or something to speed it up? |
**** it. Just keep that nasty gas guzziling two stroke out the water! Get rid of the rotray for christ sake! Stop the world's massive cow flatulance!
PS I didnt read the link...... |
Yeah, it's about time somebody started doing something about it, too! One of the several reasons that I voted for "change" this time around.
But l8t apex is right! We can wring our hands and say pollution, global warming, and bears, oh my! but until we all roll up our sleeves and park the big SUV's and make some adjustments (some would say sacrifices) in the way we live our lives, we haven't done anything to help solve the problem. Think green! |
Well,
I'm not goin to give up ****. Billions of people (populations around the world) especially the east have third world and non industrial pops who polute the environment as a whole 1000 times more than we could.Raw sewage into the rivers and oceans, radiation dumping, just the fires and no environmental controles in the east does more to harm the environment.Gold stripping using Mercury in the wash out dumped straight into the African and Brazzilion river system owned by the dictators or war lords. dont forget the bazzilions of sulphites etc that a single volcano produces supersedes our automotive out put in the US. The world wants to handicap us....we sample and lead in our environmental controles. The rest dont do **** and you cant prove anything because they dont want science by the west to do honest evaluations. **** China for underhanding our economy... Oh by the way.I was an environmental contractor before I was bought out.I worked on several superfund sites up by j9fd3s.... matter of fact, im going outside to start my beloved FD and let it idle a while.Take that world! |

Let's see... '88 Turbo II = 15 mpg, '85 Chevy C30 dooley = 10 mpg (on a good day), '66 Chevy II with a nice built 355 SBC = 15 mpg (when I finally get it back together). Nope, not too green. Hell, even the daily drivers don't do better than low-to-mid 20's, but I guess that's not too bad. I try to conserve energy when I can. Like right now, I'm sitting down. |

Yah and 2 stroke outboard motors can be clean, look at what BRP did with Evinrude. Pretty bad when a 2 stroke puts out less emmissions than a comparable 4 stroke. |

Ther's no fish left in FLA!!!!!! Bush bans fishing!!!!!!
TALLAHASSEE, Florida (AP) -- The largest marine reserve in North America is emerging on Florida's southwest coast. Gov. Jeb Bush and his Cabinet voted 3-1 on Tuesday to approve a management plan banning fishing in a 61-square-mile section of Dry Tortugas National Park in the Gulf of Mexico and Florida Straits about 75 miles west of Key West. The new Research Natural Area will be added to the existing Tortugas Ecological Reserve, where fishing has been prohibited since 2001. Combined, the two areas will prohibit fishing in 261 square miles. The plan is designed to help overfished species such as grouper and red snapper recover. It also will provide scientists with a living laboratory, and divers and other visitors with recreational and educational opportunities. "It's good for the fish; it's good for the ecosystem; it's good for fishermen," said University of Miami marine biologist Jerald Ault, who testified in support of the plan. The only dissenting vote was cast by Attorney General Charlie Crist, also Florida's governor-elect. "I am reluctant to restrict a freedom from individual recreational fishermen and fisherwomen," Crist said, who spoke fondly of growing up fishing with his father. Bush and the Cabinet added a provision that would restore fishing after five years without another vote. The research area is so far from shore few recreational fishermen go there, said Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Chairman Rodney Barreto. |

The issue isnt the rec fisheries, it's the commercial fisheries. 90% of the people I talk to that are rec fishermen would be more then happy to see catch and release be encouraged, not to mention the fact that as a preccentage rec fisheries have very little impact as far as a percentage of fish taken vs com fisheries. Look at snook, it's a rec only fish and it's thriving here. The problem is that most politicians don't address the commerical fisheries, only the rec. They try consistantly to restrict rec fishing while 99% of the fish taken from the local waters are for commercial purposes, meanwhile they do nothing to restrict them. |
while i agree that that legislation is good, i do fail to see how making fishing illegal helps the fisherman https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

If you let people fish all they catch and keep it they will inevitably destory the fishery. So, say in 5 years there's no fish, fishermen can't fish for money or for fun. If you limit or eliminate fishing on a given fishery or area, it can be opened up down the road and they can fish for money and fun. I should also ad the tortugas are a beautiful area. |

That is so damn typical and it shows that what the politicians are interested in is making a token gesture in the name of conservation, while doing absolutely nothing to fix the problem or restrain big business, while taking a slap at the recreational fisherman. I got a gesture for those politicians, I do! |

I got a gesture for those politicians, I do! Well washington state was even worse, they had 3 prongs to fisheries; Commercial, Recreational and Indians The indians are allowed to ANYTHING in any quantity, then the commercial, then the rec. So i Could go out and fish but be banned from crabbing while the indians were sitting in the same waters raking them in, they've more or less destroyed a number of the pacific salmon runs and yet nothing is done, but cut back the rec, then the commercial. |
ban indians?
|
Or hunt them! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

i dunno, i had french onion soup, i'm doing my part

Well growing up fishing for the offshore special as well as inshore I will saythat the bans do an amazing job for fish recovery. We 1st had the "Blackend Redfish" in which the US demand decimated the redfish population and then the Speckeld Trout had the same thing happen. Now its our snappers. A commercial fishing ban was placed on the redfish as well as a size and catch limit for re. fisherman. The redfish have come back in a crazy way!Incredible in 5 years. The trout too, now you can get 25 per person with a minimum 12inch.
The problem is deep water or federal waters where other countries come over and hit the brood stock. Many times its the cycle of demand that hurts us.If you dont ban over harvesting you will never have it because of a total wipout by commercial fisherman. They just want to keep fishing because its their living.... If they have to get another job they would rather fish till the government forces them to stop anyway. |
