we took the lexus on a 90 mile trip last weekend, I drove normal, not downshifting but doing 70-80mph, and I somehow got 33mpg with the AC cranking.

thats a 270hp or whatever it is "heavy" sedan, and it blows my Mazda 6 out of the water in terms of fuel economy, never mind it has over 100 more hp and has 10x's better AC.

the *** chillers are a neat touch too

the car runs no different on regular as it does premium, I have run it back to back and cannot feel any difference at all.

Have not put premium in that thing in over 20k miles

manual states premium.. brothers 350 pings when he tried regular octane..

seemed sluggish as well during our trip down to the carolinas..

you might not feel the difference since youve been runnin it that way..

I have no reason to tell stories, loaded up, ac cranking- no pinging at all

First few tankfulls I was using super, then I switched - no different.

I ran that a few times, went back to super, no difference.

Switched back and have not looked back since.

I dont even use 89, 87 octane baby.

I do my own testing which just consists of some full throttle downshifts from about 40 up to about 100, and some street starts up to about 80-90, highway ramp mergine, etc...

Odd your bro's car is different, dont know what to tell you there

with my wife daily driving it, the trip computer says 23-24mpg, but run that thing nice and smooth on the highway and you get 30 easy, hit no traffic crusing along at a good speed, no downshifts- and you can see 32-33

dunno what to tell ya either.. just lettin ya know what we experienced.. dont think that octane is burnin cleanly..

the ping is audible with the hood up.. slight but enough to be of concern to us since the car was bought..

considerin youre leasin yours.. long term isnt that much of an issue in your case..

so any detriment it may cause will most likely be past your term.. we didnt notice any change in mpg either..

id suggest runnin additives in your tank once in a while... not sure what the reg might be doin with your injectors..
