Had it flushed, replaced the compressor and drier, belts etc. Next question is there any advantage to having the shop recharge? Any difference between doing it myself and the shop doing it? Cost is the same I just can't have them refill until Tuesday, which means no ac for another 5 days.

if you have the tools, you might as well do it yourself. the only exotic tool we had was a vacuum pump, we pulled a vacuum to see if it leaked.

Yah, the vacuum pump is a must. You've got to get as much of the air out as you can, since air contains water and water in the system is bad. I don't think they're particularly exotic or expensive, but I know I don't have one.

Yea actually the shop costs the same as if I do it myself. I'll just take it in, only disadvantage is he can't get me in until Tuesday, but i've lived this long. He charged me $20 to flush it and he's gonna charge me $25 to charge it and put in the compresser oil

I took it in yesterday. They put it on the leak check for one hour, then drew the vaccuum and filled it, left it on that machine for about an hour as well. I've got 34 degrees if I'm driving it spikes to about 45 when at a complete stop. That was the best they could get it dialed in he said it was common for older ac's. Thing of oil and full recharge was $25. I gave him $40 and will be bringing my car there is I ever need work done. I've talked to the guy quite a bit and we've kinda became friends so I'll gladly be sending him business.

The fan is brand new and I re-wired it to a new relay and beefed up the wiring as it was blowing the fuse.
