once a year if that, its as easy as sanding it, its really easy
you wont have to refinish it at all if you dont cut on it
No kidding. My parents house has 30-year old formica, and it really isnt' that bad. Just take care of it.

Formica doesn't look good in my opinion, i didn't spend the kind of money we spent on that kitchen to skimp on the counters. I could have bought cheap cabinets and cheap tops and prolly spent about 1/3rd the amount, but I plan on living here for a while.

Plus it's cool having something thousands of years old in your house!
Maybe stretch some of CHRUSTI's used undies on the MDF?

Yes, I know. My point was, that even a lesser product such as Formica could hold up well for a very long time with reasonable care.

you can fix corian real easy, easier then granite
We have corian from when the house was built in the early '80s, It's cracked in 2 places already. Like, cracked all the way through. I leaned my butt up against the sink and the thin strip in front of the sink cracked, now water drips down the crack and the cabinets below are swollen.

But how easy is it to damage granite?

Might this be construed to mean that you have a somewhat robust butt?
