once a year if that, its as easy as sanding it, its really easy



you wont have to refinish it at all if you dont cut on it

No kidding. My parents house has 30-year old formica, and it really isnt' that bad. Just take care of it.

Formica doesn't look good in my opinion, i didn't spend the kind of money we spent on that kitchen to skimp on the counters. I could have bought cheap cabinets and cheap tops and prolly spent about 1/3rd the amount, but I plan on living here for a while.

Yes, I know. My point was, that even a lesser product such as Formica could hold up well for a very long time with reasonable care.

We have corian from when the house was built in the early '80s, It's cracked in 2 places already. Like, cracked all the way through. I leaned my butt up against the sink and the thin strip in front of the sink cracked, now water drips down the crack and the cabinets below are swollen.
