Speed Ricer's post made me realize that a lot of you probably have hidden talents.

Does anybody model stuff in 3D? Specifically cars...I'll tell you I've been to every 3D modeling site in existence and I haven't found one good tutorial that logically shows one how to model a car.

My friend and I are pretty fluent with computers and programming, so we decided we would create a game (stop laughing). The game was going to be a cross between Grand Theft Auto III, Gran Turismo 3, and Tokyo Extreme Racer. Anyways, I have yet to model a single car for my programming-genius friend (he's responsible for the 3D engine).

Can anyone help?

And by the way...I do have a book on modeling characters, but I can't seem to get passed the fact that I should have a working FD model by now!

If you want to do 3d modeling, you need a drafting program such as Autocad. I can do 3d modeling with Autocad. But I was going to school as an architect and cars would be a little hard. I'm thinking you need to find a Graphics designer.

My buddy is down at Va Tech right now(big BIG college here in Va) studying engineering...he is hella good w/ Autocad. He designed a flat 16valve motor that actually works...on the computer at least, lol...he wants to eventually build it...we'll see. But anyways, designing a car w/ autocad is a bit difficult, I have the software on my PC...but I suck *** at drawing so..oh well..

Let us know if you do ever get some good 3D models done up...

autocad is for more for line art. like buildings and stuff. for auto... you use rhino. it's a 3-D rendering program. that's what we used in school.

I once got my hands on 3-d studio max. WOW that **** is hard, took like 3 hours to make an egg that was symmetrical and proportional.

Yeah, I was proud

Yeah I have 3DS Max, but it's so crazy.

TurboVR6, you should be proud. :bigok:

All I have are a few splines that I've gotten from tracing pics of my Jeep. But I don't know how to convert those correctly. Everytime I convert them to an editable mesh crazies happen.

So can anyone help me out with my avatar? Everytime I go to upload it it says that that type of file can't be uploaded. It's a JPEG. So I uploaded it to my website and put a link to it. Sometimes it shows up, sometimes it doesn't.
