Following is a post from 350z (nissan/infinity forums) talking about a "power box" that was giving people mixed results....
////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Final report on my testing of the Direct Power System OK, so I believe I have completed testing of the Direct Power System (DPS) manufactured by K&G of Japan. I'm sure you're all eagerly awaiting the results. Thursday I installed the DPS on my Nissan 350Z. My engine mods are: Procharger Supercharger @ 7PSI Grounding Kit Wideband O2 Sensor Borla True Dual Exhaust Today I installed the DPS on Zand02Max's car. His engine mods are as follows: K&N Air filter Pyle 3 Farad Capacitor Optima Yellow Top Battery 1) Voltage measurements at the + post on the battery with the engine running with and without the DPS. Voltages remained constant with no discernable change. 2) Next I tested with a Fluke brand portable Oscilloscope to measure frequency variations with the engine running with and without the DPS. There was no noticeable difference noted on oscilloscope 3) Test drove the car 5 minutes without and approx 45 minutes total with the DPS. No noticeable change in acceleration, idle or smoothness during the test drive. 4) I repeated these tests on my car without the supercharger belt connected. Results were the same. 5) Next, I completed the same tests on zand02max's car. Results were the same. The next thing I did was hook up my 13.8V 20W variable voltage power supply. I took measurements at 10V 12V 13V and 13.5V with an oscilloscope and a multimeter. 6) Measured 10V with and without DPS unit. No load was put on the power supply, no voltage change, no frequncy changes noted. 6) Same test @ 12V Same results 7) Same test @ 13V Same results 8) Same test @ 13.5V Same results So as you can see my results were inconclusive. I was not able to detect the DPS doing much of anything. At this point I was frustrated. WTH is going on!?! Surely this box must do something, I mean it costs $250 plus shipping. I wanted to open the box up so I could trace out the circuit so I could know what I should be testing for. Screw it, I opened the box up. First barrier: The lid was securely epoxied in place. So I took a small drill and drilled holes at strategic points and was careful not to damage any circuitry inside by pushing the drill in to far. Finally pried the lid off and I saw my next barrier. 5 minutes work Second barrier: When I opened the box, I found the box was filled with what looked like an opaque beige fiberglass resin. I chipped through that to come to my next barrier. 10 minutes work Third barrier: Obviously they don't want me looking in this thing. Next barrier was easier, but I couldn't figure out why it was there. I'll come back to that later. Beneath the resin there was what looked like a mass of metal tape. Sure enough I found the electronics were double wrapped in metal foil tape. I removed that. 1 minute work. I don't know if I should give away the secret to the DPS system and what it actually does. So, here is my poll. Should I post pictures and a circuit description of the DPS system electronics and potentially open myself up to lawsuits because of their "International Patent" Yes, I wanna know if this is worth it. No, Don't risk it man, it's not worth getting sued over. Who gives a crap, I wasn't gonna buy it anyways. I'll let the poll run for a while and when I see there is a measurable response to this poll, I will decide whether I should do it or not. Edit: BTW, I can tell you conclusively what this thing does thanks to a years worth of electronics training courtesy of the US Army. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Well, a few posts later he spilled the beans....basically the box contains an automotive 12volt 30amp fuse which is wired to a male/female connector (pass thru style much like the edge ez). Talk about some ****** off customers... here's a link to the post (registration required) http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthr...&threadid=51032 |
Damn that sucks
|
wow. f*cked up
|
Crazy ****..
|
$250 for a 30amp fuse. Not too bad if you ask me.
What was this thing *supposed* to do? Make it run smoother? |
I once saw on motor trend tv or one of those other shows that they were going to offer the nismo package. what ever happened to that?
|
lol thats super funny
|
holy crap!
|
someone post a pic, i dont feel like registering
|
haven't got my registration confirmation yet. The diesel boys are yukking it up, thats how I found it
|
Thats messed up..

I have developed a box that gets you 25 more whell HP on your RX-7 doesn't matter if its turbo or not it will get you 25 more HP. It costs $250 and I will send it out asap. BTW - You cannot open mine its made of cement. But I swear you'll feel a difference in your car from it.
Any takers?? |

and if anyone wants to go to the site he made about it. Here you go. but it doesn't have much bandwidth |
I see its very high quality. Doesn't look like a $250 product from the outside.

The Direct Power System was developed in laboratories, with millions of dollars in research. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif |
what the hell is the box suppose to do? amplify voltage?
|
Nissan must be the bastards selling all those HP chips on E-Bay!!

Automotive Forums sells it.LOL!!! Look what I found.

"Top automobile manufacturers have attempted developing similar units as the DPS, but K&G was the first to create and patent this technology. "
|
The DPS is 100% water and dust proof. For vehicles with scoops or openings on the hood, the DPS will be 100% safe, and can be submerged under water and still function normally. Wonder why its waterproof. It couldn't be all the EPOXY they used to keep people out of the box. |
This is great - Follow the link in the link to see the guys selling this POS telling people it works.

OK who fell for it!???
|
Japan made a serious error attacking us at Pearl Harbor, they should have known not to **** with us again using this bullshit.
I'm telling you, don't mess with America, we will seriously **** you up. |
where did you find that pic?
|
http://www.sigmaautomotive.com:8080/DPS/dps.asp
Scroll down, it's to the right. That's the link Banzai posted. BTW, some of the pic captions say, "DPS on Ferrari" but they only show a pic of a Testarossa, nothing else. It's like saying, cheese fries on a hamburger, but they only picture a bun. |
lmfao...
I better go open up my motor....I think I can hear hamsters. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif |

that's awesome, $240 worth of profit for each unit.
sell 20 a month ~$50000 a year for 1 week of work https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif |
Just another ricer scam, like the "TORNADO!".

Welp its getting interesting still. Thats it I am joining that forum to see this going down.
This is a quote from there: let me clear up something since I know Wakida san, the guy who works with the American. K&G was only in the middle. They paied for the product as well. Igor, I would get your facts stright. Wakida san asked me to come here couse a japanese guy on this forum sent him the link. K&G has washed their hands from Kuwano. I read this whole thing and you call Wakida/Gary full of ****.... like I said...get your facts stright. K&G just made a contact point for Kuwano. Under their contract, there could not open it like you guys and they are going to get sued by KUWANO WHO MAKES THE PRODUCT because you as a distributor opened it and you admited it on here *BTW, I downloaded the page and sent it to Wakida* So you got 2 guys who just was the middle person in a lot of trouble. Good job Igor. Oh, BTW, I just got off the phone with Wakida-san. Gary, gust got served papers and is now officially being sued by Kuwano. Because he is American I think and the contracts they signed by Kuwano not to open the products was opend by you... From what I hear you never got a contract right Igor? The reason....Gary trusted you and vouched for you cause of some other distributor in the chain. You see the gaijin takes the fall for everything in Japan. You just ****ed an inocent guys life. Nice going Igor. Never bite the hand that feeds you. You never know what might happen when a guy looses everything he worked hard for and it is taken away from him for no reason at all... he just might be waiting for you in your appartment one night. No, I am just saying that Kuwano was the source. If you dont understand buessness in Japan then I would not talk. They are weird there... All the secret **** is real there. And yes, like I said, I am friends With Wakida san. I am siding with K&G. Kuwano is killing K&G off for yes...opening the box. You laugh but I am sure you kow nothing about contracts or privacy acts. I read this 3 times to try to tottaly understand it and I think what they are saying is the distributor singed a contract to never open the unit and disclose its contents. They did and are getting sued. |
wow go to directpowersystem.com good ****.
as for the quote you posted Jim, sounds like that guy is totally BSing. kevin. |
Whoa, thats a Ferrari infront of the 7
