Chances are if a car was supposed to come with the aluminum hood, and its gone, someone replaced it and went with the more easily found, and much cheaper steel hood. Same could be said on the other end, maybe at one time a car with a steel hood needed one, and one was gotten from a junk yard and they didnt know there was even a difference and the guy who needed the hood lucked out and got a aluminum one, or the body shop raped the insurance company across the coals and made them shell out for a aluminum hood, OR CHARGED THEM FOR A ALUMINUM hood, and gave the car supposed to be having a aluminum hood a steel hood........whew that made me dizzy

I'm not sure on TII having them or not, but i know most GXL's have aluminum hoods.
GXL's have steel hoods. TII's, convertibles, and sport models had aluminum hoods.
My freind has an 86' GXL w/ aluminum hood, if you think about it GXL was the fancey model than, so they should have aluminum hoods.

Somebody probably switched the hoods because GXL's came with steel hoods.

Not to keep arguing, but the book written by Jack K. Yamaguchi in 86' says about the GXL and how SOME would come with 4 piston brakes or aluminum hood, and I think some other options.

Speaking of which I want that ******* book, GOD DAMN LIBRARY WON'T SELL IT!!!!! :madgo:

Neither my '86 GXL nor my '89 GTU have the aluminum hood. I certainly wish I did. My dad's '92 and '01 Miata have both had aluminum hoods, and they're so frikken' light.

I have a chance to buy an aluminum hood for $150.00. Does this sound like a decent price? I really want to buy it, but the guy says he has a steel one for 100.00 if I want that one instead.
