Im not trying to spread rumors, but I just saw this info in a magazine we have here, kind of like "CAR AND DRIVER" in the US.
It says 2005 RX7 will be a 3 rotor. Also though last time they put out an article on the RX8 it was coming out in OCT or something like that of 2002, but they were a little off. Hummm could it be true? It says 320HP, and Also if anyone cars they were setting up for a 2005 release of a GTR also. I dont have the pics, but the New Rx7 as they call it, it looks just like the RX8 minus the rear doors. 3-rotor hummmm Cool, but hummmmm I dont think so. Toyota is always TOP in the Japanese market since they make the most cars, next nissan, next Mazda, but I wonder if Mazda is trying some crazy shite to pull to the top. I mean they dont offer a wide varity on engine specs when you order a car. Not saying its bad or anything, but when I was going to buy a Celica for the wife, I had like 4 different ones to choose from, and Im not talking body/color and stuff like that, Im talking Engine BS. So I wonder if Mazda is trying to do something like this........ Anyway, just throwing some info, and some thoughts. I dont know if this will get moved or not, since I didnt know where else to put it. There is no FUTURE car section https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png JT |
3 rotor would be good, but i hope that it doesn't look like the RX8 tank.
|
i'd buy one......... if i get a new car right now it would be a 350z after seeing them up close and personal goddamn !
|
Me like JapMag info...
|
fuckass .... jason.... scan!
|
I've hear they were increasing the size of the two rotor, now this. I think I'd like to see the 3 rotor come back instead, that way we can keep using all the 13b stuff, and just upgrade to the newest. I need to make someone wreck one tho, so i can do my 3 rotor swap.

yes so you can do what exactly? point at the funny characters?
kevin. The only reason I didnt get it and scan it, is because the picture is across 2 pages, so it would come out kind of FRUCKED up. I will talk to my mazda guy and see if he can get access to some pics, since I have to go pick up a bunch of parts monday JT |

sooo, considering mazda's engineering math, that should be about 250 hp at the wheels https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

I hope this really happens. I keep getting called names for predicting **** and when it comes true the name callers all but disapear. I was called names when I said that the low HP on the 8 was real and would be a big problem. I also said that if Mazda would just let its balls drop a 3 rotor is the way to go. SWEET!!!!!
Fingers are crossed. |
That is badass. But... how much is it going to cost?
|
If Mazda is smart and handles this car with more R&D than the 8, then they'll give us what we want. A new 7 with a 20B N/A Renesis kicking out about 350 to the fly. All of course for under 35K for a 6 Speed H-Pattern Box with a curb weight of under 3K LBS.
|
That would be nice, I know I'd be down...
|
I’ve seen an article like it... in a Japanese magazine shop in north jersey...
I had the sales guy translate some of the article to me...the article said that everyone is spreading many rumors about the new rx7 and people are over crediting what Mazda can and will do for the future model...the article also said the next gen. rx7 must have more power and better transition for Mazda to survive in sales because they are in debt to banks for their loans... I think Mazda will do something special but it’s so unpredictable…because there are many things they can do…and many thing people want them to do… |
The new advertising will read like a ad for a new Mobile Home:
Free $500 Debit card with every purchase! |
The next rotary car must have at least larger housings/rotors or a 3 rotor in it. I hope this is a good sign.
|
ya hopefully this little embarassment with the 8 will be motivation enough to know that they can't bullshit us into submission, the rx7 has to put out, or don't make the thing at all
|
Agreed. I saw my first RX-8 yesterday. It was the silver color. One of the first things that popped into my head was the HP fiasco.
Mazda truely needs to build a three rotor Renesis based on the 20B like they did with the 13B. Make it NA to save weight and it'll just weigh a little over the 13B (whatever it is for the extra parts which isn't all that much to be honest). Mazda needs to stop jerking us around. |
I'm with the 3 rotor idea, but I'd feel so lost with boost.. it's gotta be turbocharged. And what they're probably end up doing is just making the Renesis rotors a little bigger and try to mess around with the intake a little more and call it that. But if they turbocharge it I think they'll be getting close to 320hp.
|
maybe they should change it to have pop-ups?
|
how about a supercharged 3 rotor?? It wouldn't restrict the exhaust area, which on the 8 seems to be very cramped, and with such a short block there's room for one to fit up top. Maybe introduce a difference oil injection system, that uses a seperate 2 stroke oil reseravior.
Hell why don't they let us design the damn thing. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif |

i saw a couple of rx-8's last night here in college station, one pewter and one red. dang, those look good, so mean looking.
i saw the first drive by on university next to Northgate, the pewter one, and yelled out to every one "wow, a new rx-8, the first on i've seen on the road! look good." i still like how they look, and they look even better at night. |
Well thats the one...
JT |
its a photochop
|
Maybe a photochop, but its the same thing in the MAG I was talking about.
|
the only reason it looks goofy is because the pillar by the rear hatch points almost towards the front of the car, unlike the fd's and all else, where they point towards the rear of the car. it creates a bigger blind spot but makes the car look more rounded, and most likely stronger.
reshape that rear pillar and it will sell... hell it would easily sell like that. |

I like the front but there is just something about the rear...
|
I dunno, Mazda shied away from the 3 rotor in the past due to its size and center of gravity impact (longer than a two rotor) . . I speculate a 15b two rotor supercharged beast based on Renesis side and center plates.
|
like that but also where the back window (hatch window) meets the pillar, the pillar should face the back of the car, not the front. "/" not like "\" the way it is now..
damm i wish i had photoshop. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif |
